Was the long break between the second and third test scheduled or did it just happen all of a sudden because of the ACT tour match and recent controversies?

Scheduled. You can't expect back-to-back-to-back Tests to occur (very often, anyways). The toll on the players would be huge, especially if you got a string of hot days.

Seeing as though there is all this talk about Indian's swing kings, I say we drop Johnson, Tait, Lee and Clark for Bollinger, Bracken, Nannes and Hilfenhaus...

Well done india on winning the match at perth. Coming to the adelaide match, i think India should replace dinesh karthik for wasim jaffar and thats it.
Harbhajan was not able to do much damage (except ponting) to australia in australia on this and last tour and so would pretty much drop him out for adelaide.If necessary sehwag can fill in for harbhajan's off spin.
Make no mistake, india needs to have 6 batsman before dhoni for having any chance of drawing the match or winning it in adelaide. Swapping jaffar for harbhajan is only going to hurt india.

Agree with this fully.I do not understand the selectors fascination for giving chances to SEHWAG multiple times over and over again inspite of his failure at the one-dayers. Getting sick and tired of it.
Ideally the indian selectors should have had tendulkar and ganguly opening with dravid coming one down for the CB series and fill the remaining with "youth brigade".Ganguly had hardly put a wrong foot in one-dayers in 2007 (except few matches) and dravid failed only in the australia series.
I do not like vengsarkar in this regard. As good has been his cricket career was, some of his selection decisions have been bizzare to say the least.
The BCCI should have let him go when he was interested to resign. Shame on vengsarkar.
