***Official*** India in Australia

India is a cricket loving country but their players are disproportionately awarded when compared to their skill/performance level
That's got nothing to do with anything. All sports people are awarded disproportionately when compared to their skill. Paying someone a lot of money does not make him a better or worse player.

(BTW, very few 13 yos in Oz play against real cricket balls, available or not)
What about 16 year olds? 20? In India, that's it. I probably would never have tried on pads if I had not come to America.

in boxing, for example, most champions come from poor backgrounds because they have a will to succeed against the odds.
That's an odd statement to make. How many gold medals do all the third world countries win, except in very few sports that aren't as reliant on equipment? I suppose the poverty stricken people that live there simply lack the awesome Aussie determination to succeed? I doubt that very much. The fact that they can even compete in the Olympics despite such a disadvantage is a miracle.

Here' a thought

Imagine if an Indian or Pakistani umpire had given these decisions AGANIST Australia in an Ashes series.

What would the Aussie media and players be saying then ? Anyone remember the racist idiot Hair and how he dealt with the Pakistani team in England.

God save this sport - more and more people will get disenfanchised with such inept/biased/rigged umpiring that hs CHANGED the course of the match.

Good luck to all us fools who spend time and money watching such a FARCE. :@

I have lost interest in this game and from what I'm noticing around the net, so have most Indian fans. Tough to take something seriously when the umpires, instead of the players, start playing a huge role in the outcome. Symonds was blatantly OUT when the score was 194-6(he was out 2 more times after this). He goes on to make a 100, not to mention giving the lower order more reason to put a bigger price on their wicket. This Test Match is a farce. Sucks to see India constantly challenge Australia only to be screwed by the umpires. This whole series was changed by the umpires yesterday.

BUCKNOR vs INDIA

• Steve Bucknor: Umpired in 17 India Tests, India has won four of them
1992-93: India vs South Africa, Johannesburg
With South Africa reeling at 73-5, Indians appeal for Jhonty Rhodes’ run-out. Bucknor refuses to take Third Umpire’s help. Replays show Rhodes, who went on to play a match-saving innings, was clearly short of the crease.
Result: Match drawn

1998-99: India vs Pakistan, Kolkata
Shoaib Akhtar obstructs Sachin Tendulkar as he fails to make it to the crease. Bucknor turns a blind eye and refers the matter to the TV umpire. As the red light flashes and Tendulkar walks to the dressing room, Eden erupts.
Result: Pakistan won

2003-04: India vs Australia, Brisbane
Tendulkar is given out lbw when the ball hit on a knee roll and the line was just outside the off-stump. The bowler was Jason Gillespie and India slips after a good start
Result: Match Drawn

2003-04: India vs Australia, Sydney
India is on the verge of history of a series win on the final day. Bucknor refuses a number of close leg-before decisions against the Aussies. India falls short of time. Skipper Sourav Ganguly in his post-series report to ICC gives Bucknor very poor ratings with adverse comments.
Result: Match drawn

2003-04: India vs Pakistan, Lahore
India is already on the backfoot in the series for the first time after an awful batting display. Five opportunities missed while bowling, four of them adjudicated by Bucknor. This forces Indian coach John Wright to complain to match-referee Ranjan Madugalle during the day’s play.
Result: India loses
These links and the quote are just an example of steve bucknor's shocking decisions against India .I do not know why he is still umpiring against india .
He hates us and these examples are mostly till 2004 and he has done much more after that too.I hope he rots in hell. That c*nt.
It is good we are complaining to ICC but i think kumble should go public against him and I am sure the media will make the board follow.

There is no need to be dramatic. It's not THAT bad. If Aussies had the same thing go against them, they would have likely taken the wickets anyway. Umpiring was dire but let's keep everything in perspective please. It happens.

Focus on places where you could improve, such as the fielding. And obviously try to get a better system in place that minimizes the mistakes, but this rampant blaming is over the top.

Desire no. But then I'd dispute the notion that Australia simply want it more than everyone else. The other two: yes. It's not emphasized, though you would hope that by the time people get to the FC level or above, they'd have that sorted out. But the coaching even at FC level is oftentimes not up to par (that's the BCCI's problem).

Our players often have to go to England to have basic things sorted out (see RP Singh - No one in India did anything for years. He went to england and within two months became a much better bowler after they identified weakness in certain part of his body and worked to fix it).
Sorry SS, but I just dont believe it

On this forum, people have this misguided belief that every Australis subject to great coaching form the day they pick up a bat

Unfortunately, that's utter rot

Kids only gain the attention of specialist if they show great promise in their mid to late teens. By that time, English kids are already on county staffs and potentially miles ahead

Until then, they rely on Dad or the friendly bloke at the local club

Australia is a developed country, so money is "sometimes" (i.e. not until you're any good) available for equipment but coaching comes from the same areas as anywhere else.

Couldn't agree more. Any other sport and Bucknor would have been shown the door years go. #rd upmire decision was atrocious. There isa trend in decisions going against India in BOTH the Test matches so far.
Unofrtunately as the Aussies on the board demonstrate this kind of one-sided "cheating" attitude the players/media/supporters have is devoid of any morality  I mean, these guys don't even want to admit that the course of this match has been singlehandedly chnaged by the umpires. AMAZING.

Medal Tally by World Population

Here's an interesting article: number of Olympic medals measured against country's population. India ranks last, well behind other third world countries that don't seem to do too badly.

How long and how much can you blame lack of training/facilities/infrastructure before questioning the will to succeed and a national mindset?

3rd World/war torn countries that do better than India at the Olympics:
Cuba
Azerbaijan
Dominican Republic
Zimbabwe
Kazakhstan
Cameroon
Thailand
Kenya
Iran
Ethiopia
China
Mongolia
...and many more.

What's shocking is that India did worse not only corrected against its population, but in its raw tally as well. Why do you suppose that is?

Feel sorry for the Indian team haha( but seriously). Not a lot of times they are going to be in a position to win a match against Aus like they were but umpires lol.

I remember during the VB series( Pak, Aus, WI), a lot of decisions went against Pak in the finals. I believe it was 20 odd against them and like 3 in favour. Even in subcontinent, you see umpires giving decisions in favour of other touring teaams. And  at Brag Hogg talking about the human element, ofcourse you would want to keep it when you're the only team who is going to benefit and other teams are going to suffer.

Tell that to the Indian team - the more they make, the worse they play

what do you expect?

One People, One Planet' Award: Cricket Australia

October 2007: Cricket Australia vocal in its condemnation of Indian fans racially taunting Andrew Symonds in Mumbai.

November 2006: CA CEO James Sutherland dismisses SCG taunts of "Give us a wave, Monty. You can't speak English, you stupid Indian" as "not racist".

Yeah, those neutral umpires are such bastards

Must be about time the ICC got with the programme and awarded the highest profile matches to the highest rated umpires - Australians Simon Taufel and Big Dazza Hair

Um, what? Care to show that?
SI estimates that Sachin earned USD$17 million last year

MS Dhoni was recently named as India's most marketable sports personality and earnes millions pa

Yuvraj given a Porsche 911 and $250,000 for his performances in 20/20

Only one is worth his place in Sydney

Um, that's not what you said. You said they perform worse the more money they get. They've all earned money. Sachin has been warning $10+ million for about fifteen years now, even in his prime. Dhoni earns money for his ODI batting, and Yuvraj has been the most consistent performer in the Indian ODI and T20 Team. Taking Yuvraj - he has only started earning a lot of money recently - when he started performing well. I don't understand the argument.
