Haha, nice footy kick from Ponting. Kyle, I don't know what your issue is with Hogg, he deserves more of a chance. He's played the best spin playing side in the world on some pretty unresponsive pitches. He deserves to play in Pakistan and WI. If he fails there, drop him by any means.

hogg is not up to test standard, australia need mcgill back

How does he deserve another chance? He's had 3 tests & still averages close to 60 after 7 tests. Don't see how that equals test quality. Not like he's a young 20 year old. Time's up for Mr. Hogg.

Can't see any comment in this thread on Hayden's catch towards the end there, was brilliant! And as they were saying on radio, from a 36 year old as well!

A couple of good calls on the MOTM and MOTS above, agree with the choices as well and I don't think Sachin would have been too far off the latter either.

It's a pitty he hasn't bowled better because he is very handy with the bat unlike Mcgill for example.

Don't know how much better Warne would have done here against this batting attack on these pitches. If Hogg averaged this against other sides I'd agree, but he needs more of an opportunity. Age is irrelavnt as he could continue for a few years because of superb fitness. I'm not saying he should be ahead of MacGill, but if MacGill is still injured we should stick with Hogg.

Nah, Disagree. Warne would have done a lot better. At least Warne would have looked like taking wickets or apply pressure. Hogg is incapable of either.

Pity I missed so much of this match, but an awesome series deservedly won by Australia.

Can't wait for the return series in October. Brett Lee has to be the undisputed king of bowling right now. Can't touch him.

More pressure to score off him with limited chances in ODIs. As far as tests go, he doesn't try to keep pressure on the batsman, tries to many varieties too often.

Unfortunately, McGill isn't up to Test standard anymore either.
I think he could do a much better job than hogg IMO, the plan should be to have mcgill playing for another 3 years and in that time try to develop a young spinner, dan cullan and the other south australiam (forgot his name) look good, there is also some potential for cameran white as well as he is a good batter.

hogg dosent seem to have much variation at all and IMO mcgill is a much better bowler we just need 3 more years out of him

Hogg always been a better OD bowler then a First Class/Test Bowler. I don't know why anyone is surprised he failed to create too many problems at Test level. Some guys are just OD specialist and regardless of how good they are in that form, they can't perform in the other form.

McGain ftw.
