not an overrated hitter...just an overrated batsman in general - comparisons with Ponting and others are just horrible...he's good for playing last 15 overs of ODI or last 6 overs of T20....but never expect him to be consistently successful in any other role

Problem with Aus is they've got 4 or 5 real quality T20 batsmen that just have to open the batting otherwise they're useless

Khawaja, Finch, Watson etc. wouldn't be that great batting at 4 or 5
i fought the watson should open battle for the ODI WC, so I haven't opened my mouth about it....but if Finch misses the WC or something, Watson open, Usman 3, Smith 4

complete rubbish

Don't really blame you though as you've probably only seen him play in ODIs for Aus or T20s for whoever

love that of the like 17 batsman they've picked for this series, to ostensibly allow them to put a case forward to be picked for the WC, the only one that's done anything is Watson, and only when he's put himself as opener

I tend toward the pessimistic when it comes to Australia in T20, but a top 8 of:

Warner, Finch, Khawaja, Watson, Smith, Lynn, Maxwell, Wade, Faulkner

would be hard to beat

as in ODIs where each side scores 350?

or IPL where mediocre internationals dominate?

don't embarrass yourself
I don't watch much of IPL. So where did you watch him to conclude he's better than Ponting? the great big bash lol?

If he only averages 36 in ODIs and 19 in T20s batting mostly on the flattest Australian decks then he shouldn't bat in top 5 imo.

No one's saying or ever said that he's better than Ponting.

I've seen him come in at 5/40 on seaming decks in the Shield an make an unbeaten 100 in a total of ~170.

Almost all of his ODI and T20I innings have ended with him playing a stupid shot that has little to do with the quality of the bowlers, you could put the ball on a tee and and he would just get himself out.

Honestly have no idea what you're talking about.
