Rahane should be at 4 ideally for me. But that's taken by Kohli so 5 is fine for him abroad especially.

Pujara is going through more bad form than anything else but he's still most suited at 3. It's not like Pujara is coming in looking technically deficient and getting out. He actually usually is playing out decent number of balls getting bogged down and then struggling to get out of the rut.

Who is number 2 keeper in Aus to follow Haddin ? Must be one of the toughest selections hence they went back to Haddin ?

1. Wade
2. Nevill
3. Whiteman
4. Ludeman
5. Paine
6. Hartley

Seen them all in T20 of course and it is difficult to weigh it up. I liked Whiteman as a LT option but hasn't been in the greatest of form this season.

Even then you got blokes like J. Doran, Handscomb, Carters etc

And they gave him that extended run !

They seem to back him for the 50-over squad but I'm not too sure if that is mutually exclusive with being the next keeper in line for the test team.

I think Whiteman needs at least another 2 Shield seasons to gain the confidence of the selectors at his age. If Haddin were to suddenly retire now I would definitely think one of Wade or Nevill would be picked.

While I appreciate Kohli's want to improve things, this no holds barred approach is risky. One should not really go for it. He is making some similar rookie mistakes which Tendulkar made. When you go all out with a particular strategy taking sole responsibility, and it does not work, you are soon cast as a villain. While a leader cannot be democratic, taking people on board helps as it means the team is backing you in spirit and not just words. Who has Kohli as a backer right now? Ravi Shastri. What will happen if he has a torrid year as captain, which he can, as he is a rookie test captain and the team is young when he keeps shouting to the stars that x is his decision, y is his decision? You are just inviting yourself for flak and staking it all on very few hands. But does one expect any thing else from Mr. Attitude Virat Kohli?

When a new leader comes, people have their hopes high. However, the same people are quick to disband the leader with equal gutso.

I love that some one is trying to change things in Indian cricket and looks for ways forward. I just hope it works out for Kohli as a captain.

On the flip side, we might unleash a new no.3 who could be better than Pujara. Never know until we try.

Sorting out ones game could also be done in domestic cricket. He's had 10 average tests now so I wouldn't mind trying someone else.
For him it can't really. His problem is he stays very leg side of the ball, which allows him to play the ball really late and de-risk his game against spin and reverse swing. When there's bounce in the decks it means he really struggles because he's a little leg side of where he probably should be and so nicks balls. Don't think it's something he could fix playing domestic stuff, in India at least.

I mean it'd be horrible if Pujara is dropped but the positive to come out of this is Rahane promoted to 3 where he belongs long term.

It would still be awful though, Kohli should remember England and the fact that good players like himself and Pujara are supposed to be persisted with.

Pujara has gone from the next Dravid to needing to not being suited to 3? Jeez his currency has fallen big time in 1 year.

Pujara is perfect for 3. Plz leave him alone. Rahane is too chaotic for 3 and Kohli isn't as good as Ponting yet.

Cricinfo does not seem to think there will be too many changes to the composition of the side, excepting for Raina and Saha coming in for Dhoni and Dhawan/Rahul... This Fox Sports **** is exactly that.. ****.. :)
You went early HB. Dhawan and Pujara dropped.
