Yeh, Clarke would've had a go at this - but McCullum is also one that would have gambled to win. He's made plenty of aggressive declarations before.

Hard to judge Smith on it, being that he's only the temporary captain.

Akash Chopra. I love you for pointing out Ravi Shastri's bull****.

Didn't take the new ball
Didn't set an attacking field.
Didn't try to force wickets.
But still, they played to win....... somehow.

Dhoni is the worst captain in Test Cricket, baffling considering he's pretty good in ODI Cricket as a captain.
ODI is more batting centric than tests. You can win ODIs with mediocre bowlers and fantastic batsmen. As australia have shown ever since 2013 is that you can win tests with mediocre batsmen and fantastic bowlers.

But how stupid was Manjrekar there? He said india didn't try hard enough, but Australia should've tried harder than India in the first session!!!!!!!!! WTF?!!! We were the ones who were fighting to keep the series alive!!!

Yeah. Even Baz played for a draw during the Wellington test.

It just pisses me off that so many people pretend to be gutsy and ballsy when in reality half of their criticism is in hindsight.
Besides, it's only Smith's 2nd test as captain, been picking Clarke's brains sure but he's still got much to learn.

It's a hard life.

What did he leave in the series vs India after his huge innings?
I did say 50/50, as in he might have but i'm not really convinced, better chance than the rest of the current Test captains anyway even if he isn't a bats**t crazy as Clarke.

Chopra just brought up the issue with Rahane going completely nuts after his hundred. Rahane deserves a bit of stick for that for sure. We were still 160 behind ffs.

Nah, can't blame rahane. If you want to win after chasing 530 you need to score runs quickly to get a result. Plus they were only 4 wickets down then I believe? You're supposed to trust your batsmen afterwards to at least secure more runs than they did.

He made 146 upping the ante and was not out.

Their India was forcing the issue considering the series and paid for it.

Though rest of the batsman were useless.

there was so much time in the match though, and they were scoring really quickly anyway. their best chance was to just pile them on and go way past our total.

Let's keep in mind here that he has to rely on the indian bowling attack to take the final 10 wickets.
