He can't, they'll bowl outside off to him and he'd eventually nick one behind if he tried to play properly. Which is kinda what happened. The lines to Shami have been different because every bowler feels like they need to attack the stumps when it comes to tailenders.

Hopefully Mhd Shami will play out quietly til stumps until the last bowl when he charges and hits himself back over his own head for six.

Sure, but Hazelwood bowled straighter ones pretty regularly to Dhoni. Why walk across the stumps to him?

Meh, I don't get it. Whatever he tried, it was an utter failure.
