Dhoni was worse imo. Did you see his walk across the stumps? TWICE? After getting out the same way in the previous match????!!!!
****ing atrocious.
Meh, I can understand the shuffling. He's accepted that he needs to adopt a strange batting strategy in Australia or he'll just get out precisely how he did today. The fact that he thinks he's more likely to get bat on ball all the way around his front pad when he's a foot outside off than he is to not snick off batting properly speaks volumes but it's probably true.

Yeah but people are advocating the inclusion of all rounders like a Jadeja who would bat in precisely the same way, instead of a genuine batsman at six.
Worst of all some people think Binny is the answer. He'd struggle to find a spot in the West Indian team.

I really despise Dhoni at times. He seems to think there are shortcuts to score more runs and he just needs to find the next whacky unorthodox technique to survive and thrive rather than just try and improve as a test batsmen by leaving deliveries he doesn't need to play at and play with a straight bat until he gets set.

The same mentality seems to rub off on the team and eventually you have a bunch of cricketers who rarely improve on their game and their weaknesses.
Tbf to Dhoni his walking across the off stump worked in England which was done to counter the swinging conditions, I can't understand why he's doing that in Australia though. It's not needed.

I'm not one of those people. As bad as Rohit was, he wouldn't play a shot that bad. Anyone advocating an all rounder at no. 6 with the tail we have and knowing how Dhoni is overseas needs to get a clue.

Yeah, him getting out with the shovel/bottom hand waft outside off is probably more frustrating tbh.

I agree. I don't see how a spinning all rounder would give you much more with the ball - finger spinners typically don't take wickets here - and pure sacrificing runs from a proper batsman at six (albeit there hasn't been much in the way of contribution at six in this series).

Yeah, he has no option but to do **** like this now, because he's been batting the same ****ing way for years and hasn't tried to improve.

Th problem wasn't with the dismissal itself, it was the fact that he did the same on the previous ****ing ball and got himself out twice.

The kid went in there with a suicide bomb on his waist.

Come on pews, you think Dhoni couldn't have done what Shami is doing right now? It was disgraceful.

Yeah that's pretty much my position. Shami genuinely has a better defensive setup for orthodox Test batting on Australian wickets than Dhoni. If Dhoni is to survive for any reasonable time here then he needs to put the bowlers off their lines, rotate the strike, counter-attack etc.

Ideally Daemon is right in that he should should work on his technique outside off, but in lieu of that I think shuffling across like he has makes more sense than just standing there and snicking off.
