It's a very different thing to complain about something when you've won. And I haven't heard the team complaining about the nets at all...?
..different from calling the pitches 'absolute shocker' when you lose 0-4, you mean? :p

Some people believe that rather than seeking home advantage, grounds men all over the world should aim for that "perfect" pitch where it seams day one, is flat days 2 and 3, and dries out days 4 and 5 - I.e. Something for everyone.
Those people are idiots to be fair.

The equivalent pitch all over the world removes the challenge of overseas tours and the unique aspect of cricket whereby the pitch/ground a team plays at has an impact in the contest.

I don't think Harris was whinging about the loss in India (which was down to poor preparation, team management and being outplayed than the pitch conditions) just that he was expecting to be looked after by our groundsmen.

Just on the Brissie practice wickets issue I can see the logic in having the practice wickets deteriorate as the game pitch but it runs the risk of incidents occurring as happened to Dhawan. I'd have thought batsman would want a practice session where you get time middling the ball and building confidence before facing challenges in the middle. If you play on a deteriorating practice wicket and end up only edging or getting bowled by the balls that don't hit you then I wonder about the value of that in preparation for your innings.

If you choose Doherty and Maxwell on a turning pitch don't blame the pitch and call it a shocker.

TBF, while complaining about Indian wickets reeks of sour grapes, I do think the wickets haven't been spicy enough. All 3 wickets have been flat as a pancake (particularly Adelaide and Melbourne), and have allowed the Indian batsmen to settle in far better than what they did in England or over here last time. I understand that going for greentops make the toss too important, but the obvious option was to make a wicket with lots of natural bounce but true enough to punish bad bowling and reward good batting.

Do you think Adelaide was flatter in 2014 than 2013 Ashes? Because I do not.

This is all well and good, but I don't think they really have a right to whinge about the pitches when they're away from home and win the toss. The only valid complaint about the pitches you can have as a touring side is that they're too toss dependent, and if you keep winning the toss but losing anyway that is obviously not your issue.

I've got no huge gripe with Harris and Johnson making a point about the Australian pitches, but whinging about the pitches in India in the process was poor form.

I honestly can't remember the last time Adelaide had spice in the deck, tbf :p

I think the main complaint for me is Melbourne. Obviously we can always expect flat pitches at Adelaide and the Brisbane deck was alright, but that was pretty poor (though had we fielded better we'd have won easily).

Disappointed if they bring back Siddle, he didn't play in the Big Bash last night.

While Starc was not that good in the last test he has potential.

With Johnson out it would continue the "one loose cannon" line up, with Harris and Haze to keep it tight.
