***Official*** India in Australia 2014-5

There was zero reason for Australia to risk anything with an early declaration. On the other hand, we needed to get them out to keep the series alive. It was ****ing disappointing that desperation was nowhere to be seen in the morning. Dhoni just persisted with defensive fields.

I'm surprised Smith is getting criticized for the declaration. It's all hindsight bull****.
Tbf didn't Contra say that because someone said the series is won and either result is moot?

Zero reason? You have a chance to win a test match, that should be more than enough reason to accelerate quickly and declare, as it turns out, Australia massively overrated India's ability to chase.
Just to throw in my two cents:
If it were an Ashes series, taking/keeping the urn is a whole lot more important than a single Test win.

No Australia declared at the right time, the declaration caused a dilemma for the opening batsmen whether to attack or defend, and Australia got early breakthroughs. If you have to criticize Australia for something then let it be their absolutely below par catching in this test.

I disagreed with this:

A test match win is a test match win, you want to win as many as you can regardless of the bigger picture.
Why risk letting the opposition get a sniff when all you need to do is play it safe for a while and completely 100% ensure that the series is secure. ?

Um there is no indication of any of India's players going for the attack other than Rahul, and even with him it remains to be seen whether he was specifically instructed (terrible idea if so) ir it was just him trying to stamp his authority on Johnson, personally from an Indian perspective I'm more than happy the longer Australia batted, given the overall history of India and the number of collapses I've seen in my time of watching cricket I knew that it would be unlikely that India would chase this even if the target was say 335-340.

Shut the **** up Harsha. I hate when india perform like **** overseas, they immediately bring up a statstic to show "Well the opposition isn't good overseas either. Suck on that". Why talk about that now? Right now, India are rubbsih. Don't try to cover that up.

Just realized they should have called Shah Rukh over to give the "Yeh Sattar Over" speech in the dressing room.

That's always seems to be excuse from the Indian press and players, that and "Wait till we get back to India so we can take it back and rub your faces in it then instantly give it back to you next overseas tour"

That's odd. Aus win still very possible with 4 overs to go.

Oh well.

Don't think the declaration was the wrong call, but fmd that's a weird decision to end early. Surely you had a chance if you got another wicket.

I just think Australia gave India's batting too much credit personally, when I saw Warner's comments earlier about how they don't have as many runs I was like wtf, would have never imagined an Australian player saying something like that.
