If Yadav bowled that bowl every time he'd average about 3 in Test cricket. I don't reckon any batsman in the world was playing that. Kallis might've managed an outside edge to the keeper instead of missing it if he was seeing it like a beach ball. It really was an absolute beauty.
Contradiction spotted :detective:

another unprepared wicket giving Indian batsmen the screaming blue habdabs.

At least the things a bit less green now and the Indian openers will be able to find it. Will they want to bat on t though?

Good spirited performance from Zaheer and Umesh. Now we need a mammoth 2nd innings. A century opening partnership will be good for a start.

Love seeing pitches that don't necessarily favour the bowling, but ones that don't ridiculously let the bat dominate.

Still, it's tea on Day 2 and we're about to start the third innings. Oy.

The MCG pitch this time around was really awesome from that point of view. Perfect balance between bat and ball.

Vinay has been so average :/
Yeah, been really average.

He will do decently in some surfaces, but has always had limitations as a bowler and is also lacking a striking attribute to differentiate like Praveen has with his swing and wrist position. Relies on thinking batsman out too much probably and is already 27.

He should still be ahead of Mithun,Sreesanth,Munaf etc.. due to his FC record especially at home, but any bowler with higher possible potential like Aaron should/can be given a run ahead of him for me.Both were equal gambles right now in any case. Teja?:p

Will accept Aaron has higher potential if he had two seasons in FC cricket averaging under 30 bowling at that pace.

It's a punt if you see a bowler having all the right attributes in his early days in FC cricket doing decently and then picked for test cricket(a la Yadav). It's not a punt when a bowler is absolutely humiliated in FC cricket but bowls 140+ and is picked for test cricket.

How well Aaron has done in one day cricket probably plays a part in how people see his potential though. He's been gun there.
