He's not on tour though. I meant in the context of this series; eg. if Gambhir bagged a pair in Sydney and they decide to drop him, who plays?Mukund is racking up huuuuge numbers in domestic cricket isn't he? Deserves another go IMO
His ODI performances work in his favour perhaps more than they should. But Mukund was even worse in England and the fact that he was so troubled by the bounce at Trent Bridge doesn't bode well for a series in Australia, and Rahane hasn't played a test at all. Piling up plenty of runs in Indian domestic cricket takes quite a different skillset to what is required for the remainder of the series. Gambhir probably won't score any runs but he's still their best bet considering that none of his potential replacements have been through anything comparable before. The Indian selectors don't drop established players lightly so I'd be very surprised if they don't leave it until after the series to re-evaluate. 3,500 runs at 46 don't count for nothing.Gambhir is a bit of a worry for India. He hasn't scored a hundred since January 2010 - almost two years ago - and that too was against Bangladesh. His last hundred against serious opposition was in this match in 2009 where India racked up 642 with the top three all scoring big tons. In his last 16 Tests he averages 28. He'd probably be close to being dropped by now if not for the gritty innings he played in South Africa; but even that was based a lot more on resolve than a strong technical base. I suppose the most interesting question is who people think India would bring in for him if they decided to drop him at some point this series; would Sharma play with Dravid opening, or would Rahane come in and open himself?
His partnerships with Sehwag also give a false impression of how well he's playing IMO.His ODI performances work in his favour perhaps more than they should. Yeah, was contemplating the same thing during the first test match. The option of opening with Dravid, bringing in Sharma, and giving Kohli another go seems tempting. Because the point Dravid is having to come in at the moment is not far off from opening anyway. But then again, I'd like to back Rahane and see if he can deliver. Tough decisions to be made here.Gambhir is a bit of a worry for India. He hasn't scored a hundred since January 2010 - almost two years ago - and that too was against Bangladesh. The article is largely a tribute to Sachin Tendulkar, however I always cringe when they hype up young kids well before their time. Is it truly that important he took 8 wickets in a school club game or supposedly beat Rohit Sharma in the nets? The kid is 12 and chances are will never become a decent cricketer.
Someone must have done something to piss him off again.Pattinson bowling a lot here for the day before a game.
Funny you say that, he's batting now and just got bounced. Expletives were heard and a suggestion the net bowler pitch it up.Someone must have done something to piss him off again.

To which a very gnomish WA voice said "No **** him, give him some of his own medicine".
Probably saves Kohli's place in the side.Poor Sharma. Beaten by a 12yr old
