LOL benchy thats because Ishant was a night watchman. He wont survive 2 overs tomorrow. For all practical purposes his contribution can be ignored.

Another great day's play. Another good crowd at the G and fantastic atmosphere. Not as many as yesterday (which is to be expected). Unbelievable roar when Sachin came out to bat.

He was sublime today after tea. Once he got the nerves out of the way by almost going out to Hussey (would have been quite shattering/lol depending on who you support) he was brilliant. Those uppercuts were great viewing at the ground. Amazing to see how he plays them. Couple of nice drives too.

Sehwag played a lucky innings, but he gave India the start they needed. Dravid was incredibly solid. Obviously lucky to be bowled off a no-ball but for about 40 minutes before that he was clearly fatigued and struggled. It was amazing how he went from in brilliant form and seeing them well to just in absolute struggletown following his cramp.

Siddle's last spell was awesome. Absolutely shattered he got Sachin but credit where it is due, it was an unbelievable delivery.

Best over of the match was the one Pattinson bowled to Dravid and was completely owning him. Somehow Dravid survived. It's what he does

India ahead in the match but clearly Australia can claw their way back in.

I really do think that people are overstating the quality of the pitch

Aside from being hit in the head, Ponting was hit on the shoulder whilst playing a forward defensive

Clarke played on off the glove against a guy bowling little more than medium pace

Hussey was hit on the shoulder by same medium pacer

The ball seamed all day including a near leg spinner from Yadav in the second last over of the day

Ashwin turned and bounced the ball a lot but fortunately bowled very inconsistently

This is a loooooooooooooooooooong way from being a road and we can be thankful that the Indians didnt bowl particularly well
With all due respect, I don't agree with this at all. It wasn't a disgraceful road or anything, but it was slow and fairly simple to hit through the line of the ball.

Clarke's dismissal had very little to do with the wicket firstly. Secondly a ball can jump a little bit off the seam at times, even off relatively benign wickets.

Time will tell. Personally if Australia skittle India it will be full credit to their bowlers, not the wickets imo.
What did you think of the wicket today?

Siddle looked fairly comfortable, as did Pattinson, and for large amounts of the day Sachin and Dravid were untroubled.

Na, no way. Pattinson pretty good throughout, though his early spell wasn't on the money. Siddle pretty garbage all the way through, except his last few overs. Hilf lousy all the way through, except his few opening overs. Lyon simply unmenacing. Considering the batting really wasn't that great, aside from Tendulkar, the bowling on the whole was pretty poor.
The biggest let down was the way we bowled after Hilf and Patto bowled their 1st spell, they had softened Sehwag and Dravid to a large extent and had Lyon and Siddle maintained the same pressure then we would surely have made early in-roads.

Starting off with Hussey and Siddle after tea was another lame move because it just allowed a bloke like SRT to get off to a flier and dominate the attack.

Also I can't get this whole fuss about Hilf bowling a few leg stump balls and getting whipped to the boundary being such a big deal, his intentions were good but his execution was poor but you would much rather have a bloke bowling full rather than bowling short and wide something Siddle was guilty of doing for most of the day, because Hilf bowls from so close to the stumps his in-ducker tends to drift down the leg stump and that's something that makes the angle for his outswinger pretty acute as well, but then its something that can be easily corrected by him going a bit wider on the crease.

Well I'm not sure what's worse tbh - Hilfenhaus lacking the ability to consistently put the ball where he wants, or Siddle not trying to put the ball in a good area. The latter would be fairly easily rectified if he grew a few brain cells, but the former could be a hassle to improve given Hilf is almost 29 and should have mastered those basic skills already.
