And if he didn't but nevertheless hit his team to victory anyway, would you point out that his strategy was inappropriate? Great if you would, but plenty of people wouldn't. That's the annoying thing.
Like I said. It would depend on the circumstances of the match but if he played recklessly I would like to think i could call him out on it.

Nevertheless, i am speaking in general terms. I didnt even see Maxwell bat.

It's not a better rating system at all.
If it's worse than a rankings system that places Maxwell ahead of Jayawardene, when there is not a single statistic that justifies it apart from their last innings, then my god it must be horrid. I'm sure it isn't.

It ranks Ishant ahead of Philander...

Different roles though, which you can tell by their respective SR.

edit: this is not me saying that maxwell is a better batsman than jayawardene though, because he definitely isn't, even though I also do think jayawardene isn't that great in ODIs.

tbf to virya here, Herath > Latham is obviously longevity-related. Once Latham overcomes the "I'm not rating you yet because averaging 40 in 9 Tests means very little in the grand statistical scheme of things" factor which nerfs his rating, he'll jump up significantly.

I think that's also what has Faf behind Hamilton, so while I can understand virya putting that metric in there, it strikes me as severely overpowered in calculations.

Mahela is definitely a disappointment overall in ODIs, but he's in good form atm (got a couple of tons in the NZ series that just ended)..

Yes, this is a tricky one. Latham is getting a discounted rating because he's still new - it looks bad when it shows Herath above him atm (but considering it's 176 vs 171 it's really just rating them both as **** batsmen). This is to avoid someone like Philander getting to #1 in the ratings in 5-10 matches.. you need 40 innings to get your undiscounted rating in the current setup (so ~2 years).
