Well he has been hyped by so many, just don't think he's all that. You say what you like mate, but slagging him off after a few innings is just as knee-jerk as slating him as the next big thing.

Indeed. To be fair though, the danger of the opposite set of tactics is having your top order knocked over early and then getting bowled out for 160. England will post decent to good scores more often than any other side, even if they're sometimes a little below par. There's a very small failure rate in what they do and it works if you have a firing bowling attack, which is why England had such a good record at home for a while there. I'm less convinced in it when their bowlers aren't in top form, or when Dernbach is playing, but they're playing the percentages with it and backing their strengths. This is the danger of our tactics, bugger up the last 10 overs bit and you're left below par.
Yeah. Not to mention that buggering up an aggressive strategy means you get 160, not 260.Surely if you bugger up the last 10, you're always going to have a below-par score, unless you are India.
Wasn't really a criticism of the tactics, I agree with using them in this tournament, but part of the plan is for the middle/lower order to catch us up, so when they fail at that bit it leaves with a disappointing score. More a criticism of the batting at the death really. And I guess your statement is true, yeah.Surely if you bugger up the last 10, you're always going to have a below-par score, unless you are India.
And if you go too hard early on you're relying on your middle/lower order to do a lot of work.Wasn't really a criticism of the tactics, I agree with using them in this tournament, but part of the plan is for the middle/lower order to catch us up, so when they fail at that bit it leaves with a disappointing score. Probably would've wanted 10 more, but yeah agree.280 is basically what they were on track for so, y'know...
You'll get them.Probably would've wanted 10 more, but yeah agree.
