Yes I'd agree the margins for error will be slim because he is a very good accumulator of runs. Yes I appreciate they're not exactly cherry picked and his record against Australia is something he will certainly hope to improve on, a big score today would certainly help. But he has been more consistent against South Africa who you would say have had a much better attack over the last few years.

Cook does know his limitations and just needs to get back to going on and getting the big ones again once he's in, unfortunately a disease that has dogged much of the England batting unit in recent times.
And that's his major strength, he's well aware of what he can or can't do generally. I think an indication of how well Australia had bowled to him over such a long period was him getting out hooking in Adelaide. It was pretty uncharacteristic as far as I'm aware.

No I think you'll find he deliberately bowled 115k straight ones because he KNEW they'd be super effective.
There is a very true saying that if you have to exaggerate to make a point then you don't have a point worth making. Bresnan was not bowling at 115 clicks.

This has been a turgid affair with no real skill on show. It's taken 3.5 tests, but England should be fined for eventually dragging us down to their level.
