Lovely shot, keep them coming Strauss. This is where he needs to play the old cliche captain's knock.

Lovely shot from Cook, off his pads.

Issue that needs to be brought up is the declining standards of helmets. Strauss' GN one, Boucher's GM lid, and the Puma one that Flintoff dons are all bloody shockers. Strauss' makes him look like Mr Plod from Noddy, with the big tube on top of his head. Should really only be Masuri or Albion helmets worldwide, the rest are pretty bloody rubbish.

Personally I thought the old Woodworm helmets with the big yellow ear guards were the best. I blame Pietersen's decline over the last year solely on Woodworm going bust.

Stuart Broad now has a better average than Anderson in this series, and they have taken the same amount of wickets but Broad's SR is better (60). Interesting. When he takes 6-9 in the second dig his figures will start looking really good

A certain Somerset opener has just reached his century yet again - if only we had our first team out ....................

Get him in for The Oval. Cook to drop to 3.
Nah - Cook for twelfthers - there's a bloke at Surrey who's a useful number 3 and has scored the odd run of late - name of Ramprakash - I presume he's related to the Ramprakash who was a bit of a tosser in the 90's but its definately a different bloke

Must say I drifted off there, our sustained excellence and England's complete ****eness obviously evoking memories of pretty much every series since the 80s. Obviously must have felt pretty secure and fell asleep.

Disappointed in myself really, but good to see nothing changed while I was out to it. This is how the Ashes is supposed to be.

Just checked the score - Lady Boy with six eh? Good luck to him.

And good luck to us, it'll keep him there for The Oval.

Anyway, I'm off for the night, pre-season practice tomorrow morning, and it's the wife's birthday. All the best lads.
