ha you serious? Everyone knows his form has been substandard, including himself, and if he can't deal with a very honest acknowledgement of that by the coach, then he doesn't deserve to be a professional athlete. These aren't 5 years old kids*. It's not like he has to humiliate Watson and say he should be ashamed of himself, all he has to do is admit at the moment his performances aren't really good enough to justify his position as a batsman alone.

Lyon getting the tap could actually be the right call here.
That doesn't mean it was the right call in the first test or would have been the right call in the last test. But many people will not draw this distinction and will say that Aus shouldn't have been playing a spinner all along.

Nah, Lyon has to play IMO, you need a somewhat reliable spin option in a test match, whatever the conditions.

Be pretty peeved if Bird doesn't even get a go this series. The guy has done nothing wrong. He's been excellent domestically, been impressive in the two tests he has played, has bowled well in the warm up games, and by all reports has out bowled many of the others chosen ahead of him.
