*Official* Fourth Test at Chester-le-Street

As for Tremlett - he's still got a lot to do to prove he's the bowler he was before he got injured. If he is, he's one of the best around (especially in Aussie conditions) but he's got a long way to go to prove that imo

Please go ahead and pick Root to open on tour. Bouncy pitches and that angled bat of his will make for good times. Our bowlers will be fighting to get his wicket.

We've left ourselves no choice but to continue with Root unfortunately.

We can't (won't) go back to Compton now and we've not got any more test cricket between the Oval and Brisbane to give someone like Robson a go

Pleased to report Burgeinho's development at his Monday night coaching sessions is very good ind33d. After years of being told by his coach (me) to get his head over the ball, bend his knee and play with the full face of the bat, he emerged from his first session a month ago, whereupon I asked him what he learned.

"Get my head over the ball, bend my knee and play with the full face of the bat.....

Sometimes you need to be told by someone else, dad".

I mean, why get taught for free when you can pay for the privilege of being told the same shizz? FML.

We've got plenty of chance to do it whenever we want as Bairstow continues to be ****e.
This. Should do what's best for the team. Root would do a better job at 6, and Bairstow has been woefully bad all series, time to move on. If he goes back to Yorkshire and plunders heaps of runs, then consider giving him another go in the future, but for now, he clearly isn't good enough.

Move Root back to 6 and open with someone else?

Unless we go back to Compton, we haven't got any opportunity that doesn't involve giving someone a test debut opening in an ashes test. Far from ideal

Bairstow's off-drives that look like on-side swipes are interesting...saw them on replay earlier. Looks very agricultural.

Carberry?

The thing about Root was that was already evidence he struggled against the new ball from batting 6.

Carberry. He got a couple of games when Strauss has time off. I think against the Bangers.

Edit was only one game.

I will absolutely astonished if Carbs is recalled. Way more likely that Compton would be re-installed but even that is a longshot imo
