Hughes not getting enough praise imo if the damn victorian hadn't got carried away, the prince wouldve tonned up for sure. Looked solid the whole time he was out there, even on day 1
Very happy for him as he has obviously worked his butt off to improve his technique

Ages of players that have something in this test so far

Agar - 19, Hughes - 24, Pattinson - 23, Siddle - 28, Smith - 24, Starc - 23

You're right, the future is ****ed
I think I said it yesterday but any time a batsman not named Clarke, especially a young one, performs for us it's a massive positive

still think Rogers has plenty to give as well, I reckon Australia may have scrapped together a half decent batting line-up for the 10 tests, Ussie in for Cowan if he fails again?

Warner next in line since Clarke wanted him retained. Uzi won't play if Clarke does.

Warner will be in SA during the Lords test, so if Cowan scores a pair for instance, I still think Uzi might be a shoe in, but yeah, Uzi is the next Simon Katich I feel

Great day of riviting test cricket. Aussies lucky with the last wicket stand ... but well done from the young man and it was truly sickening to watch him get out when he did.

Right now I don't think it's evenly matched. I would put me money on Australia for being in the superior position. England would rely haevily on the 2 present batsman for gaining an eventual advantage and if one of them gets out early, which is a fair possbility, Aussies have a real chance to wrap it up cheapish.
We have seen Australian batting collapses before - actually worse than we saw yesterday. I personally haven't seen them to do it twice in a row.

Only watching cricket since 1992 being born in a non cricket playing country I rate this so far as one of the more exiting test cricket matches I had the pleasure to follow. What's even better is that my favourite team is not involved, so I don't need the heart pills ....

I wonder how just how big the lead could have gotten if Agar scored his century. Cause those two didn't look like getting out at all. Bloody Agar playing for personal glory, the selfish bastard.

LOL, I know you're only joking but I did wonder if Phil Hughes was not very pissed off with his shot selection........Agar wasn't the only one there with an eye on a career defining ton.

oh i dunno, think hughes was probably just relieved knowing he didn't get out before Agar had a shot at it haha. Wouldn't have been a very popular man if he himself got dismissed when Agar was in the 90's.
