That was as bad an all-nighter as I've ever endured. Mercifully slept through Adelaide 06, but much the same template appears to have been followed.

Excellent discipline from the Australian bowlers, exceptionally well led and marshalled by Clarke, but I can't shake the feeling that we've just gone and sleepwalked into the trap. There were shades of this last summer, only for lapses / good fortune / rain / Ian Bell to save our skins, but today smacked of batting without any particular plan or goal in mind, and consequently just allowing the pressure to build and build and finally break in one giant 6-for-9-shaped flood. Lyon's figures of 5-4-1-2 summed it all up: Australia had a game plan; we followed it.

important update:

the stick insect has just realised the way it entered is a way for it to leave. it was here for almost exactly 24 hours. goodbye sweet prince.

also the **** didn't touch the collection of leaves I gathered. If you want them, and live in NSW, send me your address and I'll use Joe Burns' entrepreneurial tip

seems like it would work anywhere in australia.

Get home to find out Cook's lost form in a week and is out to Harris (again). Captain_Cook to confirm this later no doubt.
I watched the delivery and it was a very challenging ball for any left hander. It was a very good length, committed Cook to the shot and rooted him to the crease, a super ball from a great bowler. Harris is bowling perfectly to his weaknesses and until Cook chases a wide one for no reason I'm going to change my mind and agree that Harris has got an edge on Cook. I'm just hoping that the times he survives that he actually pushes on to get a century.

well, when I went to bed we were 9-0, and we were in a commanding position, and I slept through, so I'm ignoring what happened when I slept, just some kind of hideous nightmare I'm presuming.
That's what I did in iur winter when I woke up and heard Bell was making runs.

maybe i only want these leaves going to a great new south welshman (+ possibly nufan although i could probably just drop by leaves and drop it off in his letter box)

What type of leaves are they? Not sure they'd get through customs outside of NSW.
doesnt matter. the stick insect (aka Smudge) has returned home and is back chilling on the wall, as this poorly edited photo shows. the plans to fill a letter with leaves plus a CD containing pictures of steve smith, videos taken from youtube of steve smith and a playlist of songs dedicated to steve smith have been cancelled. i hope smudge ate while it was outside but the pile of leaves has been re-built

What would be a par target on this pitch?
320?
I've only seen both evening sessions. Thus the Haddin-Johnson and Rogers-Warner partnerships. From that I'd say this is still very much a pitch to bat on. I can't really figure out why England collapsed the way they did.....

Anyway, if I were an Aussie I'd be seriously chuffed to bits. Of course the series is far from over - not even the match is over - but the way they turned the tables was pretty awe-inspiring.

If Johnson maintains this form, you'll win the series.

The Pieterson autograph thing today at the game was quite funny too.
Was that when someone asked him to sign a bat and then pulled it away?

Funny is one way of describing it. Obnoxious might be rather better. Or infantile. Or even puerile.

No doubt they'll all be whining when he doesn't bother giving autographs for the rest of the tour.

Yeah that was a dog act, no need to go out of your way to be a **** like that to a player on the boundary, particularly KP, who was prepared to have a little fun with them

I seriously doubt they'll give a **** to be honest. At 5:00pm you expect some funny business from the crowd. They've been sitting in the sun and drinking for about 7 hours. I thought the guy giving him the finger (or 2 fingers to be precise) was going over the top however.

To KP's credit though, he did seem to be taking it all in good spirits up until then.
