*Official* First Test at The Gabba

Is anyone honestly expecting that much from Bailey? I'm really just backing a couple of 30s from him. Which tbh we'd probably take.
I'm expecting a career Test average of above 40.01 from Bailey. (long term bet with Pews).

I agree with Bambino that number 4 was the spot up for grabs which would make Doolan the outstanding choice.

At least Bailey isn't an opener being asked to bat five or six, and he's right handed which should help a bit against Swann.

feel like he's the type of **** who could score a debut hundred but play less than 10 test matches in their career

Bailey will get caught after having a spa at one outside off.

Unfortunately for him and Australia, being a good bloke doesn't teach you how to leave the ball outside off.

I was very interested to see him batting so far across his stumps in the Shield game the other day. He was basically batting on off stump, maybe even a bit outside. This was to RFM bowling whcih didn't look like it was doing a heck of a lot.

Can't say I've seen too much of that in FC cricket before, or maybe it was the camera right behind the stumps, a la 1975 ABC coverage, which made it stand out a lot more.

It won't be by drinking the dirty dish water which passes for coffee where you are.

God I love the feeling right before the first Test of the summer, especially for the Ashes. The anticipation, the first Channel 9 cricket theme of the summer, howardj telling us the weather is set fair, gentlemen. Even Mark Nicholas' wankery at the start of the broadcast doesn't get me down. Love it all. Will be travelling down to Canberra tomorrow afternoon for a buck's weekend so will be missing much of the first day but will hopefully get the first few overs in. Just can't ****ing wait.

A - yawn (you are like the opposite of caffeine)
B - will be balancing the coffee with Pepsi max and energy drinks tbh

So will Watto open the bowling to tell the Pom's he can bowl and keep it tight to start? Or MJ definitely gets the new ball? Either way I think they'll only bowl a few overs but I found Watto bowling early in England a strangely exciting prospect and the kind of thing I'm coming to expect from Clarke's captaincy. It may depend if Australia win the toss though of course but It's an interesting prospect after the way he was treated last series.

MJ will definitely get the brand new cherry. If Watto wasn't coming back from injury, Clarke may well do what he did at Lords and give him the ball after a couple to see if he can get Cook with the one swinging in and then take him off pretty quickly. Given his hamstring though I suspect they'll be trying to take it easy with his bowling for this Test.

Got a cracking espresso maker at my joint tbf.

Which you'll never see, ****.
Had Douwe Egberts instant coffee at 5am then a Chocolate Orange Xmas Latte at Costa at 6. Just finished the latter; not as nice in the morning as it was when I got one in Birmingham at teatime. Still, doubles up as breakfast.

I just hope the client I'm seeing first up ploughs me with coffee and aren't one of those 'would you like some water' ****s

See in the past I made the mistake of laying of the coffee until teatime and drinking it all night. Just made me feel bloated and ****. And last away Ashes I was taking an evening snooze but that isn't going to work for me now. So it's caffeine all day. I fully expect to be wired by the toss.

I may regret my actions tomorrow when I have another early start but **** it, I didn't see any of day 1 of the summer series live so ill be ****ed if I'm missing the opening session or so this time out

I just wish they'd **** lunch off in these situations. That's the hardest bit to get through

Anyway, should probably make a 'sleep' thread and put this in there hit whatever
