I don't actually think that btw, I'm just a ****.

Who would most of us actually go with by the way? I'd probably go with Tremlett (to the surprise of some maybe :p) because he'll probably do a better job of keeping it tight and will be the safer option. And I think England will feel likewise.

I'm not confident Tremlett will be at his best but Finn hasn't earned the trust back yet

Tremlett or Finn? Answer that or stfu
Tremlet, on the basis I haven't seen him for a while and it rated him enormously when I did. That and he won't lack as many runs unless he goes improbably pear shaped.

Also, was Prior's carry on after his fitness test ester day strictly for the cameras or is he a real chance of missing?

I didn't see such carry on but wouldn't be surprised if it was mind games from us tbh, seems the way of both teams really. That being said it seems like him not being 100% fit is a realistic prospect, but again could be games. It's a traditional Ronnie Moore press conference tactic, that.

Brezzie is going to play the tour game in between tests with an eye on being fit for Adelaide apparently. Which is nice.

Like when Australia toured Pakistan in the early 80s and tried to influence the groundsmen to produce a pitch with something in it instead of the featherbeds they were getting by spreading a rumour Lillee was injured.

Both teams were training next to each other, and two match day pitches had been rolled out - one was a nice shade of green, the other a typical subcontinental farce which they generally substitute for a proper surface.

Anyway, middle of practice and Lillee theatrically crashed tothe turf clutching his back and had to be carried out of the nets.

Of course he wasn't injured at all. They rolled out the featherbed, though, and Pakistan made about 700.

Yeah I know but is a 2 day game enough? Would prefer he played for development side while that match is on to be sharper for Perth. May depend how 3rd seamer they pick for Brisbane goes.

Yeah I think this is exactly what England will do. Had a feeling before the series that it was going to be Rankin but looks like that was entierly wrong.

I would go with Tremlett, but my thoughts on him are always totally biased. Was the first player that I had really seen come through from county cricket to test side, even though he left Hampshire before his finest our he will always feel like our player.

Can't wait!! Foolishly thought my enthusiasm for this Ashes may have slightly diminished with it following very hot on the heels of the series over here, but bring on the toss!! As for the final seamers slot I think I am siding with the slightly more penetrative Finn. I can understand the selection of Tremlett which seems the likeliest way they'll go, but if they do I hope he has regained a bit of zip.

I can't see Tremlett or Finn being that great when no matter how good they go (barring a Laker like game) Bres will take their spot next test or at the Waca. I know any time you play for your country you want to do well, but the heart may not be in it.
On the flip side Johnson just looks dumb enough to think he's an incumbent over the likes of Patto etc. Who the **** knows with that lad.

Surely the point of the 2 day game is to have a look at him, how his pace, is, how he does coming back for a spell at the end of the day and deciding from there if he's fit enough?

On Prior, if he's not 100% frankly I'd rather he misses out tonight and gets fit for Adelaide.

Yes Prior's too important to risk in the first Test if there is any doubt over his fitness. It's a long old series. Though it'll be a massive boost if he is included.
