The way the system works though, you can afford to use one for a speculative decision early on in an innings, with another in the bank for a shocker - if teams were allowed just one incorrect decision I'd certainly agree that it would've been a waste to have referred the Trott lbw.
We'll have to agree to disagree here. As the English summer went on we saw far fewer of the speculative referrals as the skippers got used to the system.

It's what made me ask if Ponting had used it before.

Anybody finding it funny that Johnson is/was bowling to Pietersen regarding their mos?

Also, **** off Johnson.

This bowling line up is so boring to watch...it just doesn't have an edge to it at all. Bollinger really would have made it more lively.

Johnson just doesn't look very threatening so far today. Radar not quite as wayward as he was in England against Pakistan but it's not much better. He's bowling quickly but without any real venom or incision.

Johnson looking plop, so being the way he is will take a wicket shortly.

Weirdest bowler. Looks so much better on scorecards than when you actually watch him.

We're bowling such terrible lines and lengths. How many deliveries this morning were hitting the top of off?

Is it just me or is Watson the only Australian seamer who's actually prepared to risk being driven in order to pick up wickets?
