Agree with PEWS. Don't see the need for fancy declarations with two days left to play. Bat on and on and on and really grind them into the dust. If still in, declare tomorrow sometime in the afternoon session - probably closer to tea.

Feel a little sorry for England tbh, they have not had the rub of the green in this test.

Declaration is more about how much time is left in the game more than the runs. Even if the Aussies were 300 in front, there's heaps of time left whereas 300 in front with a day and a session and a day to go, you'd think about declaring. Weather forecast a factor too obv.

There's no harm in more runs. The deck is good for batting but as this morning showed, there's enough carry for the bowlers to use. Right now, bat and bat.

Yep, agreed. When you bat first you might not want to tire your bowlers all in one go or bat last, but when you bat second, you should definitely look to bat only once if you can. If the opposition would comfortably pass your lead should they literally bat out the game if you declared, then it's too early to declare.
