What's the difference? I didn't realise booing the captain was fine when they come out to bat. I don't really care but don't complain when Bell cops it
What's been Captain got to do to it, in both countries there's certain players the opposite fans love to hate, don't mind the boos at all when they come out to bat and I bet the players don't either, but a round of applause when he reaches a milestone is a given.

So it's fine to boo the Captain of Australia when he comes onto the field, but it's classless to boo someone who has rorted the system to get himself a century

Makes sense.
And lets get one thing straight. I'm 100% sure Bell made a genuine appeal, not knowing whether he nicked it. I also believe Hughes was confused by the whole situation this morning.

Gone now, though you could have had him run-out pretty easily shortly after the 'controversy'. So you should blame yourselves just as much as Bell or the umpires.

Yeah but he's a cheat so it's ok

Bet you're one of the muppets who says 'You always know when you've snicked it'.

If he's heard something, but not felt it, then fine by me. No worse than bowlers going for a speculative appeal.

Ian Bell :)

Nice to hear plenty of boos from the classy home crowd
You're pissing into the wind there. Was as much applause as booing tbf. You telling me the Poms haven't booed opposition players who've been involved in controversy when they've gone on amd reached a milestone? Sorry mate, you're still asleep and dreaming.

So a brilliant day for England. We bowled decently in the morning session, could've had one or two more but didn't, but fell apart after lunch really.

Pupwatch: Decent, liked how he kept three attacking men in when Cook was 170-odd. We'll know more when he gets a proper set of bowlers, which could be quite a while. Didn't fall to pieces though, which is encouraging I suppose.

Would you lot say that Beer is a improvement on Hauritz or still too early?

Based purely on what I've seen

I'd still say Hauritz is better at this point. Hauritz gets much more drift and more turn, and is probably a bit more accurate too - although Beer isn't bad at all in that regard.

It's not a huge difference though though and I wouldn't be surprised or too disagreeable to see some posters go the other way. Beer gets a better curve on the ball and a bit of dip for mine, which Hauritz doesn't.

If Ian Bell scores a century against us, I will reassess my opinion that the mid-80s was the nadir of Australian cricket.
Hmm, Interesting question......

This is the 1985 Australian side that lost to NZ by an innings & 41 runs when Hadlee went berserk;

KC Wessels
AMJ Hilditch
DC Boon
AR Border*
GM Ritchie
WB Phillips†
GRJ Matthews
GF Lawson
CJ McDermott
DR Gilbert
RG Holland

Do you think that team is stronger on paper than this current Australian line-up ?

How is Bell a cheat for not being given out by the umpire?
He was given out by the umpire.

Anyhow, I would bat until lunch tomorrow. Aus can no longer win this game and given the way they have batted, 250 odd maybe enough for an innings win.

Who reversed it on reconsidering.

Yes, Beer looks decent enough and doesn't bowl too many loose deliveries, but to be honest, I reckon Haurtitz would have done alright if he'd have got the nod, I personally think he bowls pretty good at home.

Haven't seen the series against SA then.
