I'm not the biggest fan of Cook's captaincy, but other than picking a different team not a lot else he can do here is there?

Really harsh from Cook. Bowling Trott ahead of Kerrigan. Poor dude must be so demoralised.

If there's one thing I know for sure, it's that Smith modelled his running between the wickets on Rad Haddin

Jonathan Trott has a better Test bowling average than Ashton Agar. Ashton Agar no longer has a better batting average than Jonathan Trott

To be fair, Trott bowling probably makes more sense when you've picked two spinners.
Nah, not when they've arguably compromised their batting to prevent having to bowl him. The whole point of Woakes playing was so that Trott didn't have to bowl if Kerrigan had a meltdown and we needed more seam options.

I often wonder if Trott was a quicker bowler in his youth. When I first heard of the guy, way back before he made his international debut, I was told he was a "batting allrounder". He seems to vaguely know what he's doing too and actually has some pretty useful First Class and List A figures - mostly accumulated when he was younger - so I do wonder whether he was more a mid to high 120s type bowler when he was younger, or if he was just an young-Ian-Bell type who was accurate and swung it both ways at pretty much this pace.
