I know you hate him lots and lots and lots but let's not be talking bollocks now. He's been miserly because he's bowled dross that can be comfortably left.
na what is with all these comments. This game has been turned alive because of positive cricket from Clarke. He had a chance to go for a relatively risk free shot at a win, and he took it. I never thought Eng would have even got close to winning here, but if you make such decisions there will always be a small chance it could backfire. At the end of the day, this is 10 times more entertaining than what more conservative tactics would offer. Look at the atmosphere in the crowd now. Test cricket thrives on this stuff. So did anyone bet on England at any point today? Would have been brilliant odds compared to the odds now. I seriously hate Australia's mindset, a draw isn't a problem FFS.
Oh, I'm pretty much the person on the forum who agrees with you most on that, but it might be interesting if people go after him. He's been miserly because he's bowled dross that can be comfortably left.
Yeah its good for the crowd and the sport but not for the Australian Cricket Team. We go on about our bowling attack being really good and its just up to our batters to perform, why are we struggling in this sort of situation. If you draw away from home, its not a bad thing.na what is with all these comments. This game has been turned alive because of positive cricket from Clarke. I don't really bet but half an hour ago the odds flashed up as they do on cricinfo and I was more interested by the odds for australia winning. The closer England get the more they have to go for it even if they lose wickets. Maybe it's the English mentality that's always pessimistic. But Australia as they are now at 125-1 seems like value. It wouldn't be outside the bounds of comprehension to imagine that England got within range and were so close that they had to keep going for it and kept losing wickets as a result. Say potentially needing 30 off the last 4 with 5 wickets in hand. They collapse and Aus win by 5 runs.So did anyone bet on England at any point today? Very pessimistic. That's just not going to happen. There are no signs to suggest it will.I don't really bet but half an hour ago the odds flashed up as they do on cricinfo and I was more interested by the odds for australia winning. In all honesty you think that Clarke would've preferred an extra 30 odd runs before tea. That way he could've kept attacking for longer; as it's gone, by the time we got 15 overs in with only the one wicket, it was game over as far as the Australian win was concerned. This is good, wicket to wicket stuff from Watson, however I thought the objective of the declaration was to force a win, not to deny England one?
