Shows what happens when you lose concentration for a second really, clearly the better team have gone out here, and now Germany should have an easy passage to the final, esspecially with a string of the Turkish team being suspended for the next match. Predicting a Germany/Holland final, which would be fitting, as they are clearly the best two teams left in.

I'd argue Italy are likely a better team than Germany.

I think Germany are pretty mediocre personally. If it were a World Cup with more good teams knocking about I wouldn't give Germany much of a chance, whereas Italy and Holland I could see going all the way. Unfortunately fate has conspired to yet again give Germany a piss easy run - in terms of opposition and getting a bit more resting time than other sides, so they've a good chance of winning this competition.

Tbh I wouldn't rate Italy or Germany as truly great teams, both have elements of extreme mediocrity, but Germany for me anyway are generally more entertaining to watch, and thus i'll pledge my support to them over Italy, who are extremely fortunate to remain in the competition at this stage, though that said I doubt they will be for much longer.

It was a dire, dire game tonight, saved from ignominy by the last 3 minutes and a royal choke job from the Croats. I was pleased for Turkey (yes, they stab Leeds fans, but they don't knock us out of tournaments) & it showed the virtue of lumping the ball forward in the last seconds; 99/100 it'll come to nothing, but there's always that one chance.

Didn't watch the game live but worth catching the replay, even if the first two hours were incredibly dire, for the last two minutes and penalties. Feel a bit for Croatia, given it took two minutes after the alloted extra time for Turkey to actually score.

TBF at least a minute & a half of that was yer Croat coaching staff and subs running onto the pitch to celebrate their "winner", so have limited sympathy.

Plus, of course, they did knock us out.
