Exited to see how crystal place would do at eitihad also der klassiker ( Bayern vs Dortmund) later tonight

My first response to reading the Portsmouth sections is they must go a long way to explaining their results in the mid-1980s. And that will mean far more to you than it does to me. The phrase 'drinking culture' doesn't really do it justice. My second thought is how on earth did Alan Ball get the job, even in those days? Apart from having a WC winner's medal of course.Oh absolutely remember him. I'd be interested to hear about his time at Portsmouth as he was key to bringing the best out of Noel Blake who suffered racist abuse from his own supporters (different times). Jeez, it's 40 years since those 2 were there, I feel old!!
Depends on how they do in the Europa league. I think they have to at least reach the final for him to survive, but if they exit before that and possibly Thursday I don't think you can make a persuasive argument to keep him. Yeah he has to deal with injuries but pretty much every time has that issues and when two of your crocks are Mount and Shaw players who get injured brushing their teeth , meh.Clearly amriom system is not working. Will he tweak it or put his ego ahead would have to be seen
Tbf Bayinder is pretty dire, but I still pick him v Lyon as its possible it goes to penos and he is ok in that regard, watching Onana trying to save penalties is desolation.Onana , sweet Jesus.
Its not like Bayinder is Van Der Sar, but it reflects quite poorly on Amorin how he continues to back this hack IMO.
They must re assemble the entire sqaud and give amriom 2-3 seasons just to get into ucl but again they might sack him by December if they are not in top 5You can’t sack another manager this fast. Every one of them struggles managing the island of misfit toys.
Amorim wanted to come in the summer but Ratcliff wouldn’t wait.
It’s going to take years of proper transfer windows to offload the old and the crocks and the not good enough players on silly wages. They spent 12 years of managing the squad badly and 1 fair Ratcliff window won’t fix that.
Hopefully they can sell Rashford, Sancho and Antony for something. Casemiro needs to be moved on. As do Mount and Shaw if you can find any takers.
United are a mid table cup team like they were under Atkinson before Ferguson. The sooner fans and the media realize that the better. Without Bruno they would be in the relegation fight and they would deserve it.
Do they even have a backroom with the savvy to put together a single decent transfer window, leave alone the several they need? They must re assemble the entire sqaud and give amriom 2-3 seasons just to get into ucl but again they might sack him by December if they are not in top 5![]()
They were a good team mid 80's, just missing out on promotion twice before finally getting the job done. My Dad had promised my Mum a night in the Savoy if they ever got promoted back to the top level, but rescinded the offer after the first 2 near misses!!My first response to reading the Portsmouth sections is they must go a long way to explaining their results in the mid-1980s. When I think about the recruitment, who exactly were the 'box office' players over the last three years? Casimiero? They have largely tried to sign up and coming players rather than ready made stars and they have clearly largely failed in that respect.I don't think they're that far away from the turning point.
Seems most of their fans have finally accepted they're a mid table club and they won't get big name signings. The era of chasing marquee players is what put them in this mess and my (outside) read on it is much of that was driven by entitled fans wanting glory rather than stability.
I certainly don't blame Amorim but he hasn't helped himself. In fact, if he had half a brain he would have turned the job down because the squad was never suited to his style of play. Poorly advised by his agent and those around him.
De Ligt, Hojlund, Mount, Onana, Antony, Ugarte, Lisandro; if you want to go back another window you can add Sancho and Varane. When I think about the recruitment, who exactly were the 'box office' players over the last three years? I guess of that lot I would have said De Ligt and Lisandro might be considered very big names, the former especially from his earlier years at Ajax, but I struggle with the others being particularly large names, but possibly because I don't intently follow football from across the continent that closely. Sancho was a very promising up and coming player with Dortmund for sure, but you wouldn't have necessarily have said he was a proven player.De Ligt, Hojlund, Mount, Onana, Antony, Ugarte, Lisandro; if you want to go back another window you can add Sancho and Varane.
While not established global stars like Di Maria, Falcao, Ibra etc most those guys above were well known names in Europe and their price tags reflected it.
I've said for a while now they should be going for proven prem mid tier players like Mbuemo and Livramento. The problem is that sort of signing won't appease the fans and they don't seem clued into the bargain deals/release clauses.
He made a wrong choice anway glad we went for slot who has similar style to klopp Rather then amriom which would have ruined our seasonI don't think they're that far away from the turning point.
