I've shared many a same feeling over the years as Leeds fans with my club and with our histories, we in the same WhatsApp group @andruid 👊😂
Well as a Portsmouth fan, I rather enjoyed yesterday's game. Great to see the old Park rocking again, I wouldn't worry too much as a Leeds fan, they won't come up against an atmosphere like that again this season (or probably next). Not like they didn't have chances either, swap the 2 keepers over and you probably get a different result.

Looks like we're safe now, if we can avoid the ridiculous injuries we've had this season, we might be able to challenge for the play offs next year. That's assuming we can keep hold of our manager, because it's a matter of time before someone clocks on to him at a bigger club.

I hear that Freddie Potts has had a good season with you guys when he's been fit. What do you think his biggest attributes are? I hear he actually has a good engine. That is desperately needed in our first team.

Good to see your boys doing well again. Good times with Harry Redknapp not so long ago.

I remember growing up, my friend a couple of houses away supported Newcastle because that is where his mother was from but the dad was a staunch Pompey fan. Had loads of memorabilia in his pub.

He's formed a good partnership with Dozzell (funny how they're both sons of former pro's) who has been the real revelation. He does have a good engine, and particularly at home we've been able to employ a strong pressing game of which he has been key. Given he played League 1 last season and Championship this, you could say he's progressing. But I suspect this could be his level rather than the Prem.

Well I hear you guys are tentatively interested in trying to get him permanently. I would suggest that he's probably going to be given next preseason with us as I say, that we have a load of ageing and not very mobile midfielders and this saw us get royally schooled regularly in the first half of the season.

Early impressions on Potter?

I guess with his past, he may want to look at developing from within as well. You have a few with Earthy & Potts on loan in the Champ as well as Casey, Scarles, Offord, Mayers etc

Potter has done fine. FWIW I was suggesting amongst those I know that we should have gone for him not too long after he got the sack from Chelsea. Their crazy recruitment strategy didn't help him at all although it was simply likely that job was a little too big for him. I thought he would be ok for us as long as reasonably comfortable finishes and the odd cup run are the realistic expectation. . It is nothing too exciting, but we are no longer playing an absurdly high line that saw us get cut through so easily. A 7 out of 10 for me. We are way better organised and players are largely being played to their strengths. Scarles has been excellent in the last few weeks and will take over the no.3 role next season with Emerson likely moving on. Orford has looked good when given a chance and many of us were pining for him to be given a chance in the dark days of the autumn. My guess is that Casey is one who will be likely to be given a loan move next year. He's had a few minutes with the first team but I doubt they'll throw a rookie centre half in too soon especially with Aguerd possibly returning from Real Sociedad after his loan expires. Earthy looks as though he's grown over the last few weeks at Bristol City. It is more than about time WHU had a few youth players come through.

I think with hindsight it's become pretty clear that Potter's biggest problem at Chelsea was taking over right when the squad was falling apart. There was a cultural mismatch but I don't think it would have mattered as much if the immediate results weren't so much worse than the fans were used to.

I have him down as a pretty good coach. Not a revolutionary genius or someone who inspires cultlike loyalty, but he makes sensible tactical choices, organises his teams well, knows how to work within a modern club.

That's a fair take, certainly from where I'm sitting.

Me too. I was hoping that Palace would appoint him to replace Hodgson before RH stayed a season too long after keeping them up. Maybe the Palace/Brighton aspect was too big a factor for that to happen. And obviously I'm very happy now with Glasner anyway.

I did wonder about that re Potter and Brighton. And yes, Glasner is obviously a good manager. I am still utterly baffled that you and Brighton are biggest rivals with each other regardless of the Mullery/Venables thing. It doesn't make much sense geographically unless you live somewhere near Gatwick/Crawley.

Yeah, it's all nonsense as far as I can see. I suspect it was a safer option than stoking a rivalry with Millwall.

Well done, PSG. Well deserved win at Anfield and better side over the two legs got through.

Definitely wasted some chances there but that PSG midfield is special.

Would be awesome to see their squad go on to win it, despite how much I dislike them as a club.
