Harvey Elliott :(

For a young guy he seems to pick up the most unfortunate injuries. Hope he recovers quickly, we're going to need him.

Not sure if this makes Macca, Chiesa, Gakpo or Jones the back up 10 but will be interesting to see how Slot reacts

Strange timing. This is probably the most defining season of his tenure so far and the expectation now has to be to win the league.

I would have waited until Christmas if I was the club, this particular section of their run looks mental and that's only if they get through Spurs and City without too much damage in the next few games.

Yeah bit of a weird one from Skipper. Surely Arsenal are a million times more worried about losing Arteta than Arteta is about being Arsenal firing him. If Real Madrid continue to be a bit crap and Ancelotti's seat gets wobbly, Arteta is one of the first guys they'll start sniffing around.

Losing Arteta at this stage would be terrible. Suggestions that this is an unwise or unjustified move are some of the most "very online" things I have seen recently.

The run of fixtures Skipper has posted isn't even that hard (famous last words.) Even if Arsenal drop points in a couple of games, the board aren't going to suddenly lose faith in him.

I would suggest it's very on brand for Skipper to suggest something like that tbh
I obviously don't think they'll sack him, I just find the timing interesting and thought it was a worthwhile discussion.

Arteta has done extremely well but the elephant in the room is that he's yet to win anything outside of an FA cup with Emery's squad. If he fails to win a trophy of note this season it will be 3 seasons on the trot where he has had a capable squad but hasn't got over the line.

We're talking about a manager who has spent £700m in what will be 5 years at the club. The board has backed him so at some point there has to be silverware. I don't think that's an unreasonable thing to say.

In most cases I don't think it would be a conversation (because Arteta clearly is doing a good job) its just a fanbase that is reknown for being quite turbulent and if the wheels fall off quickly this season the renewal will be awkward.

London derby's always tricky especially away from home, Fulham and West Ham took points from them last year.

Luckily they got Man U and Forest to massacre but yeah nasty run of matches.

I've never been to a game at the Emirates so maybe I'm completely misguided but there were plenty of news reports about ownership protest just two seasons ago. One such link is here - https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...stage-protest-against-kroenke-outside-stadium

There were also some pretty nasty campaigns to get Wenger out, even if you want to argue it was the minority of matchday fans. Again not my club so I don't claim to be an expert here. Relative to other clubs, 'turbulent' may have been the wrong word.

For the record, I'm not saying there's about to be riots or protests if Arsenal don't win the league this season - but your fan base (be it due to online media etc) have recent history of being volatile and I don't think Arteta has some sort of natural immunity from it.

That was my only point in the original post. I'm not trying to whip-up some kind of Arteta agenda here, I rate him as a manager but there are high expectations now too
