A bit of angst about Kalvin Phillips starting tonight. Back him to put in a decent shift shielding the defence and putting in a few nice passes into the front three.

I am almost counting tomorrow's match as a PSF though, hopefully I will get more energised next week. We just seem to be hanging on the Watkins potential sale ATM, pretty pathetic.
Worth the wait I would say.

Really hope he does well.

Easily the best player I saw against Brentford last season. It is possibly England's weakest position as well.

Two games into the season and we've lost both on penalties. This of course has some numbskulls calling for the managers head

This season it’s more vital than ever to get a good start and pick up points consistently in case the season is incomplete again. It might be worth having a sweepstake on how many matches will be played before the first postponement.

So, by way of BBC live text I understand that because England packed the team with center backs and defensive midfielders, there was no quality in the final third.

Also Kalvin Phillips topped the player rater with 5. Something.

Somewhere amongst the latest incoherent rambling of the PM there would appear to be more bad news for football clubs with spectator test events being cancelled.

All feels so surreal, with Chrisene, and apparently money from Amps loan deal, we've made about 5 million this window, not sure what we'll do with it.

2nd and 3rd goal set up and scored by academy players last night, with 10 youth players in the squad, we keep churning them out, 15 year old on the bench.

How many highish profile players (counting Ampadu as one) have come through your system?

Friend, Watkins, Ampadu, Grimes, Moxey(long time ago mind), Storey, plus various sundries around the Leagues, it's an okay list, but hopefully it will get even better, as parents know we're a club to go too if you have a promising young un, helped by Yeovil and Torquay disbanding their yoof set-ups in the last few years, really working for them that.

Ampadu spent about 5 years in our system, so think you can count him comfortably.

It's weird because I think it being an out of the way place, not much crime, good place to bring up kids is a big plus, whilst it becomes a disadvantage often when players hit their teens early twenties and make their own choices, the bright lights beckon.

There is a slight cloud on the horizon that clearly we're on the big clubs radar, and they may well snap them up young before much money can be made.

I cling to hope based on him saying the plans to return were being reviewed rather than postponed. But I am an optimist.

No reason stadia can't open if pubs can, you just can't go with more than five of your mates. Hand space face. Or something

Doncaster races were one day into a four day test event that was instantly cancelled. I think it’s just incompetence that they hadn’t got around to details by the time of the announcement.

Cambridge had fans at their game last night, guessing those plans for Saturday are scrapped now

Best get used to iFollow I guess

Guidelines for the test event at Aberdeen:

Remain in your allocated seat – (standing is strictly prohibited)

Chanting/Shouting/Singing – are to be avoided to help reduce the risk of infection.

When in your seated area, when moving past other spectators, to and from your seat, please avoid face to face contact with other spectators.

No Kiosks or Refreshments are available – as always, no bottles, cans or alcohol are permitted.

MatchBall – should the match ball enter the stand, please pass this down to the ball boy to be sanitised, under no circumstances should you throw the ball onto the pitch. Please ensure that you sanitise your own hands once the ball has been passed back.
Sounds shite, although I did chuckle at the no face to face contact rule.

Not as many as did ours at Shrewsbury.

Hart, Edwards, Andre Gray, Goldson, Tom Bradshaw, Woods, Jon Taylor.

2 clubs doing it right and getting a reputation, means more money for next prospect too.

There's not really any reason to think he'll fall off a cliff though. With almost all 31-year-olds there are warning signs, but I don't see any with him.

In another summer there'd be an argument for selling him and rebuilding, but I don't think you'd get a great price for him this year. He's unlikely to justify his wages when he's 34. But for what you're likely to get in the first year or two of the contract it's surely the right call.

Maybe I'm wildly extrapolating on the basis of a few cases, but longevity of greats seems to be extending across sports. You have the Big Three + Venus/Serena in tennis, and then Ronaldo and Messi in football (Ronaldo particularly, the guy just seems to get better and better with age).
