This Willy was preceded by another Willy, remember? A Sylvester happened too.

The scars are still prominent.

Let's not forget Sebastian and Phillipe.

In all seriousness though, yeah, we're a fair cry from Wenger levels of competence these days.

I thought they all love him still. @JOJOXI ?
I actually was a big Willian fan more than most Chelsea fans who grew increasingly frustrated (for lack of a better word, perhaps frustrated is a bit harsh) with him. However, after his season with Arsenal I cannot see him coming back and if we keep a 3-4-3 formation I'm not sure there is really a spot for him with likes of Hudson-Odoi and Ziyech often not featuring as it is - especially if we are to bring in a big name striker.

Sabitzer available for about the same price. I like that option over Neves.
Slight aside but I am intrigued how Sabitzer does in the Euros. I don't really fancy Austria to do very well this Euros and wouldn't be surprised if they finished bottom of their group but a good tournament for Sabitzer might help generate interest. 1 year left on his contract too and 27 now so could see Leipzig thinking lets get a half decent fee for him and reinvest in exciting youth rather than risk losing him on a free potentially.

I was a big fan of Willian whilst he was at Chelsea. Thought he was awesome. Had higher expectations than most for him as an Arsenal player, but he's been total pish (as the majority predicted). Can't think why on earth Chelsea would want him back even if he had enjoyed a reasonable season with Arsenal, given the players they already have in their squad.

Surely they aren't really comparable players?
Yeah pretty sure Sabitzer is more of a goalscoring midfielder, but maybe he can play elsewhere.

I think Neves would be the better signing. Just a bit younger, a bit closer to what you're looking for, and a bit less of a risk because he's played in the PL. Bundesliga imports don't always do great and even the successful ones can take a while to get going.

Think Willian might end up in the MLS sooner rather than later.

Chelsea proven right not to give him the 3 year extension that he wanted. Strangely enough, it was a Wenger policy that Chelsea adopted in only handing 1 year deals to players over 30, Arsenal have done the opposite.
