James has had a really good season, gonna be a top player I think.

And +1 to those critical of Pep's team selection. Didn't have his best 11 players out and those he did weren't all in their best positions. It didn't take much foresight to think that Gundogan might struggle as the DM as soon as the teamsheets came out. Chelsea winning a one-off game against them wasn't a shock, but it was surprising by just how much they seemed to outclass City.

Can only think he thought Chelsea would play extremely defensively and thought it would be worth sacrificing a DM for an extra attacking player to break them down.
I don't remember where I read this but someone said that he should basically pretend the CL is actually the Carabao Cup and everything would probably be fine as then he'd just play his normal side with normal tactics.

Was interesting how the BT pundits almost totally didn't criticise Pep for the line up beforehand, still all saying Citeh would win easily. Think Noel Gallagher was the only one really in an interview.

Tbf to Sterling, Reece James was excellent I thought.
He was. For all the comments we've read about how outrageous it will be if TAA doesn't make the Euros squad, it really wouldn't be. James, Walker and Trippier are all very good.

On an unrelated matter, I wonder whether it's time for players to stop taking the knee before matches. It was roundly booed last night, as it was before the FA Cup Final, and as it will be throughout the land when fans return next season. Whilst not wanting to give in to these poor dears, I think I'd prefer not to be giving them an opportunity to air their noxious views.

De Bruyne has a broken nose and eye socket. Given FIFA's attempt at making it a non contact sport I'm surprised the body check isn't a red card offence. They happen quite often without that sort of consequence, but it's still a tad dangerous.

Blimey Lincoln winning, the curse of the red and white stripes and black shorts finally been broken?

Made that point in the thread last night.

Was 100% a red card for me. Would have been an instant red in rugby, but that's a sport that actually takes head injuries seriously.

Aguero has joined Barcelona for two years.

Morecambe have had more attacks in the first twenty minutes than we managed under Derek Adams in the same match five years ago.

Going back to where you’ve been successful before doesn’t work very often. :hypocrite
God took us up in his first season back but Graham Turner was an exceptional manager.

Mellon does well in League 2 but looking at the age of the Tranmere squad he has a big rebuild on his hands this summer. Presume Jackson will return as number 2?

No he's keeping the current backroom staff. Think a lot are surprised by that. But yeah a complete rebuild is needed but it sounds like we will have a top end budget.
