i don't think regional leagues are so bad myself. The level is more variable within the division, but you get more local derbies. What often undermines them is when one region is visibly weaker than the other, which I don't think will be a problem now in N/S England (might be in some years time though).

Also a Cumbria-Cornwall away day trek for a fifth division clash isn't that great is it

Yeah I'm not necessarily saying it's a good idea, but the Championship seems to have settled down where you've got a lot of historically big clubs like Leeds, Forest etc; you don't really seem to get many of the smaller more local clubs making much of an impact at that level without getting bankrolled.
Yeah agree. It is so hard for smaller teams coming up and a lot of those 'bigger' clubs are also unsustainable on current revenue so am sure me they would be keen on a breakaway.

Brentord a bit of anomaly, I mean we have been bankrolled but not by a ridiculous amount and even made a profit last year. I think it would be harder for us to get in that position now though.

Longest trip in the National League appears to be Hartlepool vs Torquay, which an honourable mention to Fylde vs Dover. There's almost an argument for a Conference North and Conference South at a level higher than it is now, with the pair of winners getting promoted but then you're back to the situation where the Conference is too difficult to get out promoted of.

Apparently there are also a large number of players (including big names) who have put their clubs on notice that they will not be taking part in any "project restart" of the season as well. So that could be interesting.
Yeah, read a couple of articles saying the majority of Premier League players are dead against starting this soon.

The B team thing is just opportunistic nonsense.

I am lucky to support a club with great owners. If this had happened six or seven years ago I'd fear for our future but I am pretty sure we will be absolutely fine. We've just laid a new desso pitch too (or whatever it's called)

Anyway let's see what gets announced.

ITV are showing the whole of Euro '96. First game is England vs. Switzerland on ITV4 tonight at 6.15. Very much up for this ****.

Rubbish tournament if the articles over the last few days are anything to go by. Just finished Euro 2000 though so will probably still watch it, I can only really remember the England games.

I seem to remember Czech Republic were quite entertaining in Euro 96.

The Poborsky lob against Denmark (I think) seemed to get replayed over and over.

I've heard this too but I don't really care. Game-to-game footballing quality doesn't matter a massive amount when judging tournaments imo. It might matter more on rewatch when the tension isn't there.

It's mostly interesting to see how differently the game was played, and to see which of your childhood opinions were terrible (w.r.t. Euro 2000, almost all of them).

Ah there was a separate lob against Denmark by Arsenal legend Davor Suker lol.
Schmeichel was arguably the best keeper of the PL era, but he was so so easy to lob. He always positioned himself a few yards off his line, which no modern keepers do, and when they do it looks like an obvious error. I'm not sure why it worked for him back then but doesn't now.

Oh yeah how good the games are is only a part of what makes a great tournament but it does matter more when rewatching. I absolutely loved 2010 World Cup at the time but I would not fancy watching many of the games again.

Euro 2000 just had so many good games and so many good players, only some of which I remember and some of which I probably did not see at all the first time round.

Oh yeah I remember watching that game pretty clearly and all the other England games apart from the Spain one really.
