***Official*** English Football Season 2017/18

Everton really are crap.
Yeah think they have been overhyped pre season, tough run of fixtures, but not impressed today. No pace in the side whatsoever and way to many slow ponderous attacking players. Arsenal are flawed but would be astounded if they don't finish ahead of Everton.

Young can cross but can't defend. How is he still at the club.
Very average full backs on both flanks and even Valencia is flawed due to his inability to cross the ball. Surprised Jose did not push harder to sort it in the Summer tbh.

I do think they need to find a way to get Martial in the side, to good to be on the bench imo.

First time I've seen the video ref in action in the Dortmund game and I don't see why you wouldn't want it.

As an aside Dortmund really ought to win the Bundesliga this year.

IIRC neither was originally a full back when they became a pro footballer to begin with.

Luke Shaw is never fit, he looked really good at Southampton but not able to play enough matches in succession for United. Jose and LVG have been critical of his workrate also which is never a good sign either.

66/1 for Ugo next Villa manager? I've had dumber bets tbh recently.:sadwalk:

There are questions about how good a professional he is as well. Was criticised for being overweight even back in his Southampton days.

I don't think he's necessarily injury prone but he's had a couple of bad ones and Jose doesn't like him at all. Will surely get a bit of game time when fit though because none of our other options are up to scratch this season. Blind the least bad.

Thought a couple of the fullback youngsters we saw last season looked promising. But it's just not Mourinhos style to try that.

Borthwick-Jackson was the only left back wasnt he, the rest tended to be CD/RB. He looked decent enough in a back up way, but has never seen the light of day since Jose came.

Rio Ferdinand is taking up professional boxing. He's two years younger than Mayweather so perhaps there's another fight with a non-boxer on the horizon.

Borthwick-Jackson is on loan at Leeds. Fosu-Mensa is also out on loan. That one annoyed me tbh, he looks ready to step up.

Looking at just last year Demetri Mitchell looked promising when he played. He started as a winger though it seems. Joe Riley also looked good in his 2 games.

I don't get him using Young. Teach Darmian how to cross or play Blind or use 1 DM instead of 2 and use an extra creative player. If we are going to convert someone and take risks then youth is the way to go.

I know Mourinho won't though.

Yeah Young is worst of both worlds, not good enough defensively, and while he can ping a cross now and then, his attacking prowess isn't all that in 2017. I'd gamble on Darmian, not much use going forward but better defensively.

I think midfield, attacker and obviously keeper wise United are stacked, just feel the lack of quality full backs and erratic centre half's probably mean they won't challenge City for the premier league this year.
