I'd recommend going to live matches, seeing the passion again. Things can feel a bit theatrical through a TV screen.

Maybe not Arsenal though as you might have to invade several African countries before you could afford a ticket

I'm not sure going to Arsenal would constitute seeing the passion again either. Well, not the fun type of passion anyway.

He needs to come to Brentford again obviously, we were in League One and kind of rubbish last time he showed up.

I think you're right, going to live matches always makes me appreciate football for what it is (i.e. just a game), it's easy to get caught up in all of the media/TV coverage that would have you believe it is something more.

The problem is, however, and I think I have touched upon it before, is that even at a very low level the ticket prices are pretty high. Going to see my local side, which is not a professional team, for instance, costs about £15. The last time I went to see Brentford (which admittedly is a great experience which I would encourage everyone to do) it scarcely cost more than that. It's this kind of thing that makes me think that at the end of the day it's all just about money. And don't get me wrong, I get that, it's how the world works and football clubs are basically just businesses and so on, and that's fine etc... But the more I think of it in these terms the less I feel like caring. Like Grecian said above, I probably just need to buck my ideas up, but ergh.

If said local team is Boreham Wood, it's more than £15. And they are now professional. So shut the **** up bro

But yeah, the cost of live football as an adult is pretty steep. It is the only real source of income for a lot of non league clubs though, and TV money aren't exactly riches in the FL.

My season ticket cost £289 this season, which isn't bad, paying on the gate would work out about £4-5 extra per game

Apparently there are WOB and AKB fights pretty much every game these days. It's not a fun time being an Arsenal fan now.

And then this from the travelling fans at Leicester:

Wouldn't call it suffering anymore, I've just been ground down by the tedium over the past few years. It's not exciting anymore which is far worse than losing to me.

My heart bleeds for you long suffering gooners

It's just rare for a club's performance to be so carefully tailored to inspire ennui, whereas outright depressing performances are pretty common. It's like the club is a metaphor for well-to-do North Londoners struggling with the vacuity of their comfortable existence.

You say that until you really start losing.

Can just imagine Boy Brumby & Nick Hornby sitting in a pub discussing what else they can do with their time, whilst listening to 80s & 90s indie.
