So Arsenal are genuinely targeting Jonny Evans. Can a United fan here make help me think positively about it please.
He had a few good runs in the team alongside Vidic iirc. Was solid when he had an experienced guy with him but not a leader and prone to gaffes. I thought he had promise he never really fulfilled. He maybe hit his ceiling but there might be something there in the right setup.

I know it's a ruthless sport and all that, but that's a sad way to treat a loyal servant. Really feel sorry for him there.

But that's just how it is these days, fans just want to move on to the latest toy and they don't really care in such cases, but watch them whine and abuse players when they kick up a fuss for a better contract, or refuse to play until they get a move to another club.

Hate the way they've treated Osman and Hibbert. They probably aren't good enough to be in the squad anymore, but they're club legends and should have been kept on, even in a non-playing capacity. I like the money, but hope the new chairman doesn't tear apart everything that makes Everton great.
I don't know if the new management have made an oversight or have done it on purpose. Both are pretty bad but the latter is worrying not just for Everton but football in general.

Yep, this.

Completely disagree actually. Fans don't just want the latest toy, we value loyalty both ways. Across the football media and social media as a whole it's true that the 'loyalty' demand only works one way, but most fans value long-term servants. Our ex-chief executive is still hated for releasing Ian Goodison via a one liner on the club website after ten years service.

Hibbert clearly doesn't live in the real world reading his comments. People are fired and let go in a ****** way in every walk of life.

The fact he wasn't offered a new contract should have been a bit of a clue that he wasn't getting kept on. Again, something that happens in the 'real world' all the time.

I'm two weeks late on this but Liverpool have signed Ragnar Klavan?!!?

The best thing to say about him is that he might be a tiny upgrade on Škrtel...barely Bundesliga standard though. Must be an appeal to travelling Estonian fans

Great move for Stones. Will probably work out in the long run for City too but I can see him having a really tough first season.

Stones been announced as a Citeh player. £47.5m. Bit torn. Happy with the fee, but would have liked to have kept him. Don't want us to become a selling club, we need to keep our top players and was hoping the new chairman would want to keep lads like Stones around. Oh well. Cashed in, now to find a replacement.

Stones and David Luiz - the two most expensive defenders of all-time, almost £100m. Let that sink in.

Ashley Williams is apparently on the way. Not sure about that one, fear you may be getting him just as he starts to decline. But on current quality it's a pretty clear upgrade on Stones.

There are some properly successful selling clubs out there these days. There's absolutely no way Atletico or Dortmund would have turned down £50m for him last summer, and I think Everton have realised their mistake. He's a player that takes huge risks to learn what he can get away with, and you were ****ing yourself over by putting up with that while he's developing when he's only going to move on anyway once he becomes good.

Yeah, fair point mate.

Williams would be nice. Not a long-term solution by any means but a solid upgrade. We've been linked with Lamine Kone too, but not sure what to think of that, not seen enough of him to judge.

We should splash the cash on Mustafi. Get that home-grown quota up.

I think it's a really obvious sell for Everton. I mean, he wasn't always even starting every single game last year and had some pretty shaky performances when he did. He's all about his potential at the moment and if he actually does realise it he won't hang around anyway.

Obscene amount of money to spend on a centre half. Now it gets interesting though as they need to replace him and if they get Williams then Swansea are looking nailed on to go down after selling the striker yesterday too.

Swansea tend to do very well in the transfer market and letting Williams go is a pretty strong signal that they think he's over the hill. Thought he looked pretty bad for Wales at the Euros too, and with his team doing really well and him chipping in with a big goal it's the type of bad performance that a lot of people miss or forget about.

They will still badly need a replacement though. And getting a good Premiership CB is really tough.

Swansea would be fine I would have though, especially this year as Hull look as good as down already and Burnley have done nothing much so far either.
