*Official* English Football Season 2014-15

Norwood's on Fire
Well obviously that would change as well.
Yeah but even say the home team gets the normal gate receipt share. You're diminishing the chances of a good return by mandating it to be at the home team's ground

I mean I'd love us to play Man U at home but financially an away trip there would set us up something massive

I could be wrong and Grecian/Pickup can confirm but I imagine their relative successes in the latter half of the 00s were helped somewhat by the funds they raised from their two games V Man U

Their free flowing football and chances created to goals scored ratio makes them a joy to watch. They only pay their attackers more than any other side in the world and they were still able to register five shots on target against Yeovil, you've got to give them credit. Especially after all the fans complained about the style under Moyes, it's nice to see that it wasn't actually just the results that were pissing them off.
Well we already won one title with a style that **** all over the ExG models that you seem to think have solved football once and for all. I mean, I agree we're due a reversion to the mean. I definitely think we'll finish below Arsenal. But the residual of a model isn't the same thing as "random chance". Goalkeeper quality isn't in the model, and given the nature of the model, you'd expect it to explain a lot of the difference between predicted and actual league position. Length of injury list isn't in the model, and it's mean-reverting, so is likely to explain a lot of the difference between pre-season odds and current position. And so on.

I mean, they're nice models, I generally agree with their predictions. They all tip the same three teams to go down that I did a few weeks ago. Same top four too. But they're still so, so far from comprehensive. At this stage the appropriate reaction to a disparity between predicted and observed should be "huh, what's missing from the model?", not "well that's random noise that will soon cancel itself out".

Jeez calm down. I just find you boring to watch.

I mean, I've predicted you to finish 3rd whenever I've said how I think the table will end up for at least a month.

A couple of ITK's claiming Wojciech and Arsene had a bit of a tiff after the Saints game. Not sure Ospina is the solution but Szczesny's making Almunia and Fabianski like errors.

But 20,000 people have signed an online petition urging the Latics not to sign Evans, raising the prospect of a dramatic U-turn by shocked officials.

Hey I don't mean to get pissy with you or anything. I swear that post sounds less angry if you remember to read it in an Irish accent. It's just that a lot of your posts these days are moaning about results with a big residual on an ExG model, and I don't really agree with your interpretation of them.

I didn't really intend that post to be a whinge about the "fairness of the result", so apologies if it came across that way. It was more a sort of bitter whinge at the fact that ever since the Leicester game United haven't really had a bad result or a thrilling victory, where they showed immense attacking prowess (maybe the Liverpool game gets in if I'm being generous). Given how much has been spent on acquiring and having forward players I just find it a bit frustrating that you're doing the minimum needed to win games given the resources spent. I despise Madrid but at least they're fun to watch. I guess it was kind of to be expected given how LVG approached the later stages of the World Cup and the defensive injuries though.

But you're Northern Irish are you not? Everything sounds angry in Norn accent.
Haha true but I don't have the angry Norn accent, I have the friendly one. Corrin to confirm?

Yeah it's true. I think we just couldn't get anyone exciting so we just signed a bunch of antiquated strikers that don't miss many chances. Even Di Maria is more functional than the hype would have suggested.
