Can't see Dembele spending much time on the bench. I reckon he's probably their best player after Bale.
I think Dembele is very good, but I wouldn't say he is our best player minus Bale. Agree though that he shouldn't be spending much time on the bench.

You wouldn't want Sigurdsson, he's not very good.
I reckon Dembele should be their second best player but their set-up isn't taking advantage of him that well yet and hence he isn't.

Who else is though? I don't think it's Vertonghen. It's hard to compare him to Paulinho or Soldado so early on. I suppose Lloris has a pretty good case.

I think I agree with Ikki for once actually. I'd say if you were to rank all their players on paper, Dembele would be somewhere towards the top of the list. But he's perhaps not the best fit for the system they play.

Hmm, how so?

It's hard to explain, and will give it a better go later on when I have a bit more time, but it's another one of those things where I just look at the midfield of their side and it just strikes me how something about it just doesn't seem right. Pretty flimsy reasoning, you might say, but it's just the feeling I get when watching them play.

Stockport have got Harrogate away tomorrow.

Can't wait. Not that I'm making the long trip from Reading like. Especially after paying £50 for the train last Saturday to watch us get beat off Altrincham and Colwyn Bay.

Massive.

One thing I would say is that they missed Dembele terribly when he didn't play at the end of last season. It basically got to the stage where they were subbing him on even though he was clearly unfit, and it still sparked an improvement.

Probably says more about Scott Parker than about how well he fits their system, though. I think he's really important to the team but that's not the same thing as saying their system gets the best out of him, you might well be right there.

I really like Dembele, but he is one of those players (sort of like Fellaini in a slighlty different way. ) who you think could be outrageously brilliant, is not quite at the level you think he ought to be. If that is down to the system I am not so sure.

Sandro was a massive miss for Spurs in second half of last season, I love the idea of him Dembele and Paulinho in midfield, looks like Capoue could be just as good as him anyway though.

Well thank **** for that, saves us from the "Magic of Mourinho", and "The Special one" headlines for a few days.

Better team won.

Yeah, really looked like it was going to be one of those standard Chelsea in Europe wins. Some Chelsea fans actually looked upset then, is this thing important now or something?

So Julian Draxler is the latest player to be linked with Arsenal in their time of desperation. Another one to amount to nothing, no doubt.

Really don't see the point in trying to sign him. Is he even any good anyway? Besides, in the best case, he's just another teenager, the squad needs proper established players ffs.

And now there's talk of bringing in Kaka as well...just so desperate.

I'm going to bury my head in the sand for the next few days I think, and just hope that by some miracle when I tune in again on Tuesday they will have miraculously bought Benzema, Di Maria, Ozil, Suarez, and the Alessandro Nesta from 2001.

Yeah the four you've mentioned are up there. I would say Lloris and Soldado are comfortably better. Paulinho, Vertonghen, Walker, Sandro play at a level which matches Dembele as far as I can tell anyway. I like the look of Capoue too, but Id never seen him play before joining Tottenham.

Draxler's amazing. Best teenager in the world. Signing him alone would make the transfer window a success but it's surely not realistic, every club in the world are in for him and he'd cost about £50m. I think you're rolling your eyes at the link for the wrong reason :p.
