Were people dissing Skrtel, Agger and co? Liverpool's defenders are pretty good, got plenty of experience at the highest level by now too. I think their defensive record is more to do with how well the team presses as a whole than the quality of the guys at the back though. Lucas is much more important than any of the defenders.

I can remember Arsenal fans gloating about spurs spending millions of £'s more on the transfer market and then being shut up somewhat by the wage bill. In 07 it was about £15 million more a season, and Chelsea/Manure another £20 million on top of that.

You can get world class players to sign for free by offering them stupid weekly wages.

Yeah, have always thought Liverpool's defence was pretty serviceable to be honest. It's the midfield and the lack of cover up front which is funny. Having a good goalkeeper like Reina counts for a lot as well.

Dunno, Agger and Skrtel aren't world beaters, but I'd say they wouldn't really look out of place lining up in the defence of any team in the division. That's not to say they would get into the defence of any team in the division, however. Jose Enrique is similarly pretty decent. Glen Johnson is awful though, will concede that.

Lol Chavs. Aguero made Terry look like the hack he's become and Mario finished it beautifully.
Terry really is falling into the farce category now, would have stopped being funny ages ago, if he wasn't such an hateful ****.

Thats the Arsenal Clichy that we have not seen much of this season so far.

Couple of others from both sides that might be a bit lucky to still be on the pitch as well.

Mon Chelsea. We've won so many titles when we've miraculously stayed in touch with a far better side than us for the first half of the season.

Although to make that result count we would need to get something from Chelsea, and we probably won't.

Mixed feelings after that, good for the season but typical bloody United only two points behind, still they have pretty much all the top teams away from home yet.

City really lost their way in that game with some poor discipline (no idea what Yaya was up to today) looked so so good early on but go to credit Chelsea, was not a vintage display by any means but a good pefromance, Romeu is clearly 1000 times better than Mikel.

Useful result for everyone who isn't a City fan there.

Also nice to see Clichy living up to the reputation he built at Arsenal, had wondered when he would get back to form, so to speak.

The Meireles goal completely changed the game, Chelsea didn't look threatening at all for the first half an hour and then they scored from nowhere and after that City never found any rhythm.

I wouldn't be particularly worried about it if I were a Citeh fan, it's one of the toughest games of the season. Hopefully Arsenal will give them a game on Sunday.

Yeah they still have the best squad in the league by a comfortable margin, Sunday a big game though for sure.

There was a fair bit of talk around the start of the season, wasn't there? When teams were knocking heaps in during the pre-season matches and early games, at a rate of about three a game.
