*Official* English Football Season 2010-11

Norwood's on Fire
WAC.

FTR mate, I've followed United since the 70s. There wasn't a lot of glory around for many of the years I've followed them.

Of course, they've long since made up for that. Much as I support them, I'm really not a great hater of other sides.*

That will of course mean there will be about 30 Poms on here saying I don't understand football, that I'm from a country where it means nothing, etc etc. All a load of **** of course. but we saw a lot of that stuff in the WC last year, whcih is largely why I try to stay out of football discussion on here.

That and the fact I'm interested in it, without being rabid in my support of one team or t'other.

*Except Liverpool. Pack of ****s they are.
What do you know about football ****, do they even play it in that upside down country?

That had to be the best second half performance I've seen from us for a while. It wasn't smash and grab by any means, it was coming out focussed and implementing the gameplan to a tee. So so good. Shame the return isn't for another 3 weeks.

Executing the gameplan to a tee probably wouldn't have involved the linesman wrongly disallowing a perfectly good Barca goal when they were 1-0 up :p.

But it was a fantastic second half performance nevertheless.

Blah blah Florey, Kingsford-Smith, Geoffrey Robertson, Tim Cahill, Craig Johnston, Schwarzer (better 'keeper than England's dross at the last WC), Monash, Evatt, that bloke who helped the Queen's father to utter a cogent sentence, the first AIF, the second AIF, the fifth and sixth Divisions, the Rats of Tobruk, Breaker Morant blah blah blah.

You gave the world Chris Tavare. And meaningless long balls into the penalty area (a trend enthusiastically taken up by us, sadly).

So Brumby, is Connor Wickham as good as the hype suggests?
Well, let's put it this way, I was at St James Park last year for Town's 2-2 draw with the Toon, with the soon-to-be £35m man playing for the home side and there was not a scrap of doubt who looked the greater talent.

The boy literally has everything: two feet, amazing first touch, vision, strength, a superb turn and a fair turn of pace for a big lad. So surprised he hasn't been gobbled up yet. There was talk of an £8m bid from T*ttenham turned down, but really he'd be a steal at twice the price.
