Given I remember you thinking he was nowhere near good enough, he's obviously won you over. :p
I didn't expect him to be awful, I just think we should have got someone better. Opposing teams don't look at Valencia and think "oh crap! better watch out for that guy.." nor do they think, "there's the weak link in the side". He's just ok.

The usual story doing the rounds in Italy is that SAF wants to bring in Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik. Not going to happen unless SAF wants to hand over anywhere between £20m-30m. I don't think it will happen because if a bid to happen (and it would only happen next summer) then you have the usual suspects of Inter, Juventus, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Man City all entering the race.

Would love it if we got him but I'm not convinced. We're also being linked with Simon Kjaer, who has impressed me whenever I've seen him - an absolute beast of a player and a more likely signing for United IMO.

Either Juve or Bayern to join Liverpool in the Europa League now.
Or Inter or Barcelona (highly unlikely though). I'm not 100% confident Inter will beat Rubin Kazan at home (or get a draw), considering the team from Tatar have already won at the Nou Camp. Seems straight forward though.

Can still remember the Utd fans telling me he'd be a more valuable player than Cesc. Heh, still chuckle a bit at that.

Heh nah, I know a couple. They pointed me to some redcafe threads which contained such hilarity as "did you see Anderson pwn Cesc at the Emirates" and other funnies.

EDIT: here and here.

Actually seen a couple of better examples before but cbf doing the digging.

And fwiw the fairer comparison is between him and Denilson and I don't think he wins that one either (and you all know my thoughts on Denilson's ability)

Haha, Anderson had a great game that day if it's the game I'm thinking of. Him and Hargreaves.

Anderson managed to put both Fabregas and Gerrard completely out of games against us, they were forced out of the game by the Brazilian. Having said that, I haven't seen him being outstanding this season by any means and it can be a concern on occasion how up-and-down his passes can be over a game. Some of them are fantastic, some not so much.

Having said that, is he a better player than Fletcher was at his age? Well... basically I think the guy still has a lot of potential and he does show flashes of it (far, far, far more consistently than Nani, that's for sure, who only shows his potential when he batters in a goal and does a backflip) with his long range passing. But I'd like to see him do more as a creative midfielder as he's not quite convinced me entirely in that role as yet. I think in the game where Tevez scored four goals in a Carling Cup tie, he was supposed to be incredible. Oddly enough, that's one of the very very few games I didn't see!

He had a decent first season, fell away badly last season but improved as the season wore on. He's been properly good this season though, you watch him against Man City or Chelsea?

The Grauniad's take on Spurs' reported interest in Micah Richards:

Tottenham want to sign Micah Richards in January because some more money and extended exposure to the central London nightclub scene is what he really needs to make him knuckle down and stop running about like an extremely athletic confused man trying to find the right night-bus stop at 3.30am in an unknown provincial town.
