So was listening to Alan (dire) greens phone-in after the match, someone quite rightly criticized his whinging about friendlies and asking for green never to commentate on them again. Alan said he was glad he got across how poor a match it was, in reply. The man is staggeringly poor and sees all criticism as praise. What a complete **** he is8-)

Was at the Valley earlier for what was on the whole an entertaining game even if one which we were always going to lose once we gave Charlton their first goal. Charlton to good for this division and at times it felt like a cup game against a higher league club, there second goal was excellent. Having said that we were not bad and created quite a few chances, should have got at least one. Been a good start to the season and plenty to be posotive about
Yep, big time. You see clubs come down here who think they are above it but Charlton actually are, best time I've seen in the 3rd in the 9 seasons we've been down here.

From what I've heard, he actually got a very unlucky straight red. We were 0-0 before he got sent off and were doing okay so might have made a difference. Nevermind. Thank **** for the saints points reduction else we'd be bottom. We were so ****ing plucky last season, this season we're spineless.

Yeah, I hadn't even heard about that tackle, a colleague posted it on his blog. Player's career is almost certainly over.

Brings me on to another point I was surprised to see no mention of, did anyone else catch the head of the Croatian FA saying that we were injuring Croat players on purpose?

Realise the facetiousness, but the Belgian chap responsible got banned for 11 games...
Fair dos then. But, although nasty, it wasn't as high as Taylor's on the satanic Brazilio-Croat himself and, IIRC, the Brum captain was given three games and a small present because he "wasn't a nasty player".

Blatter asked if the ban could be extended, but the FA refused in that case
Smacks slightly of the mild xenophobia that still hangs around our game. Think a lot of English football people genuinely still believe that English players are more morally upstanding than their foreign confreres.

Terry was hilariously claiming "English players are too honest to dive" just before the Slovenian game. Really, John, really? I suppose it's heart-warming a one-eyed man can rise to captain his country in a sport where stereoscopic vision is generally regarded as an advantage.

Yeah, hard to disagree with any of that, all of our forward players tumble. I don't think FIFA should be getting involved with domestic bans though, there are plenty of other cases where their legislation has prevented deserved bans [/broken record]

Anyone watching the Womens Football?

Coming up to penalties, wonder if our women are as arse at it as the blokes:unsure:

Edit: probably not needed coz of some terrible 'keeping.

C'mon England hold on :)

Although I don't want to be seen agreeing with Terry because I think he is wrong, I would say that generally the English are less likely to feign injury or dive. It doesn't mean they don't have those type of players, but you see that kind of stuff in Italy, Spain, Portugal, etc more regularly.

Anyone catch the Masters? We're the champions :D

We beat the filth in the final with a highly controversial penalty given by video ref, Bolton players fuming, fantastic. Just saw a few of my mates on the telly, winner.
