BARNES OUT
I think as long as he doesn't need to play week-in and out he'll be quality to come in and do a job. If Bridge goes down and he has to play every week it might get a bit touch-and-go burnout wise, especially as you mentioned, he has slowed down a lot (as you'd expect).

Was good enough to keep Ronaldo relatively quiet in the CL final and considering he's around as cover for Bridge and mentor to the younger guys, as well as a Brazilian influence for Robinho to enjoy, think it ticks all the boxes.
Yeah, all things considered it's at worst a worthwhile gamble on a class player in the autumn of his career.

Plus it's not like City are strapped for a quid or hundred million anyway.

Lets see how he goes when/if he comes back..
And if that happens he won't be playing there for club, so unless Capello (could be gone as manager by then) is bat-crazy, he wouldn't play RB for England. Unless Rafeal gets into amateur porn like Anderson, he should have the RB position locked for years to come.

But Rafael hasn't stepped up yet though. I am more see Hargreaves as a short term option for the WC if Johnson, Richards or Brown dont step up.

Would rather have Reo-Coker playing for England there, mainly because he's played RB in the last 18 months.

Whatever pace he has, he's probably still faster than Gary Neville, who, when playing a PL game for us last season, somehow got MotM.
Why would that surprise you that he's still capable of putting in good perfromances against teams who don't rely on pace?

Two-nil to the Villa. Sheesh. All not well in Liverpool at either team, obv.

Only listening on 5Live, but defending sounds village.

The thing is Villa look shocking, to be losing 2-0 to this shower is really poor. Almost poor enough to get you the sack......

Liverpool gift-wrapped this one and gave it to Villa. The own-goal, the unnecessary penalty. They were there just to get a point; defending with pretty much all their players bar Agbonlahor in their own half...yet they got 3 goals. Gutted, to say the least.

Liverpool looked so pedestrian in contrast to Villa.

Lost all of two games last year, already equalled that in just three games.

Instead of blowing all your load on a RB and an injured midfielder, Liverpool should have looked at Young and Agbonlahor.

Also, got rid of the two hapless Dutchmen and sold the Ukrainian back to Germany (all three at a loss of course). Instead Rafa is reduced to buying Rangers rejects.

If by pedestrian you mean bossing the game and trying to conjure up everything/anything, then yes, we were pedestrian.

Why? They both did F-all.

The Ukrainian I agree with you. The Dutchman scored about 15 goals and had 10 assists last year.

Johnson not exactly showing himself up to have much defensive ability, looked good going forward, but looked awful at the back today.
