Yea no doubt Denilson & Diaby look like solid skillful players but for such a key-role as the mid-field hardman they aren't on the same level as the three blokes i mentioned.

You say Senna is on the wrong side of 30 & may have to take time to adapt to the premiership i have to disagree. Out of the three on de la Red from what i've seen may have a slight problem with adjusting to the physical game of the BPL surely not Toure nor Senna despite his age, Senna to me seems to be peaking & if Makelele could last in the league until 35 can't see why Arsenal can't get 3-4 good seasons out of him.
De la Red has done nothing to suggest he is capable of playing in the premiership, I agree with you there. Senna would have no problem with the physical side of things, but one feels he would struggle to adapt to the speed of the game at his age, plus the fact that he is the wrong side of thirty and the fact that villareal would probably want a large sum of money for him means he would not be a decent long term investment, esspecially with several decent young players already in the team. Toure would be the best option, but as he has been on trial with Arsenal twice already it's likely that if they wanted to sign him then they would have done already, and suggests that Wenger does not really rate him, and from what I've seen of him I wouldn't disagree either.

Yeah, massive fee. Can't remember what Arsenal got for Henry and Viera but they were laughing all the way to the bank, if Berbatov's legs goe in a year then Tottenham will be to

Does that mean I have to stop wearing mine next June? :(
Nah, tbh my post was a little over zealous. For someone like you who regularly attends the matches of a lower leauge side I see the wearing of a clubs strip a nice gesture, and a showing of support.

But yet when I watch a game on TV and see the hordes of middle aged supporters of a premiership side (particularly the likes of the big four) all lined up baying like pigs wearing the latest strip I just think it's just dire.

Sounds like he has good reason to quit here IMO. He was starting to get things together I reckon.

But yeah, Shearer all the way
AWTA.

From what I can gather it seems like Keegan is well within his rights to walk out on this occasion, sounds like the Newcastle Board are a right bunch of ***** tbh, and are fulling deserving of the backlash they will certainly get from the fans. If they don't watch out Newcastle FC will end up a truly broken franchise with no hope for the future whatsoever (if it isn't already).

BBC have now changed tact and are saying his future is unclear again.

In other news whites drawing 0-0 to Accrington. I'd be there but the missus is working and so I'm stuck at home. Not the biggest tragedy ever. Last time I attended an LDV game (as it was then) we ended up being knocked out 11-10 on pens. In my childless days I did used to do the aways even in this cup, madness bordering on stupidity really

York vs Mansfield just about to kick off on Setanta. Will naturally be a quality game.

Can't believe the Blue Square gets a gig on the telly but the JP trophy has to wait until the final

Mansfield just pegged one back, 1-1 and their best player/goalscorer's just pulled up with a bad hammy.
