*Official* English Football Season 2008-2009

Newcastle hold on for a deserved draw.

Pretty tough start for Man Utd with their next 3 games against Pompey, Liverpool & Chelsea away. Especially missing a game because of the super cup aswell could find themselves a few point behind Chelsea, & under pressure, heading into the game at Stanford Bridge.

Acceptable considering how Newcastle played and with two injuries in the match and Tevez having to leave the country.

Yeah, probably should of put "much better".

Still a decent performance, and certainly looking like they're going to be a more attacking force then under Jose or average.
LOL I was only playin

Decent start for the Geordies; dropping points at home this early is not a good idea

Of course I'm not using history as a basis for this considering what happened last season, Sir Alex Ferguson's acheivements and the fact that in the next couple of months Man Utd play the top teams and title contenders.

8-)

You can't use history to tell you what will happen in the future in sport.

In life, perhaps, but not football

Agree with Rose personally - our second half of the season looks, on paper, much easier than the first given who we're playing home and away.

United weren't great today, I'm not unduly worried though personally. Chelsea surprised me by winning as well as they did, though I haven't actually seen them yet.

Honestly? Chelsea played really well. Smooth, flowing, attacking. They dropped off a bit for me after 2-0 but it picked up again later - I think it was when Ballack was injured that they struggled temporarily. But I must admit they played attractive football, as gutting as it is to say.

Terry named permanent England captain. Unlike some, I'm very happy with this. Would have been just as happy with Gerrard, but as long as it's not Rio, all is well.
