Big five during the mid-to-late-Eighties, I certainly don't think Citeh were involved remotely. Remember them as distinctly poor. Norwich were a bigger City club if truth be told, at the time.
A fair point but Citeh have always had so many supporters - especially in Manchester - I don't think I've ever a met a genuine Manc who supports Utd

Fair enough - I certainly remember the term big six being thrown about though, usually in the following context:

Everton like to think they are still part of a big six, well they aren't

loved it tbh

Everybody knows the two things you always say about United is "all fans that support them are from out of town, all mancs are Citeh fans", and "United, always get the dodgy decisions going for them".

Always gets their knickers in a twist.

Damn I've said too much:ph34r:

I'd love to see a list of all the English teams that have won a major trophy since Newcastle last did. Granted my team wouldn't be on there, but Middlesbrough & Sunderland would, that in itself is awesome

What I meant to say, in fact, was the following:

Question: In 2005 I remember taking the train from Sheffield to Manchester (I had come from London) and I remember that we passed Stockport's stadium, what is the place and the club and fans like? Inbred scum?

aussie lives in Manchester and Hakon's team is Bodø/Glimt IIRC. Could be his most hated team though.

Bit of trivia for you about Stockport, their ground Edgedly Park is the closest to the Mersey. Always get that in quizzes, so keep it in mind.

Anyway, the place is just your typical suburban area really. It's certainly not the worst place I've visited on my travels but it's not a place I would ever want to go and live. The club are similar-sized to us, slightly smaller I guess, have fluctuated between the Championship and League 2 over the previous 20 years, but like us League 1 is probably their natural level.

The fans, I don't have much opinion of them, never really had a problem with them from what I can remember. I do have a problem with their lack of a roof on the away end though.

Currently they are in a bit of financial trouble and had ten points deducted towards the end of the season for entering administration. It's a shame but I think it will be a long time before we see a season where a L1/L2 club doesn't lose points. I moan about our board all the time, especially the last few days, but I am grateful for their financial competence.

Ah of course, the League Cup was won by a few small clubs back in the 60s

Bolton's FA Cup win should be struck from the record though, have it on good authority that they fielded an ineligible player
