Wasn't having a go at our in ablilty to produce quality players, be at what ever standard you regard as quality. More our recent inability to keep quality players once they reach a level they can make a impact in the first team.

Though some of names you put down as decent players even made me laugh. Some are barely good enough for the championship and league one.

Worthy replacement for Rooney if he's crocked perhaps, but not enough of a target man to work successfully with him. Cap seems to like Rooney playing off a big bloke.
Well Gabby has shown enough versatility to play in the squad as a back-up striker & an winger. Rooney's best back-up remains Owen.

Really hope he leaves Newcastle. Villa seem his best option next season.

BARNES OUT
Haven't seen much of him but he hasn't disappointed.
Have taken special interest in Stoke since Beattie arrived, he's been particularly good. Big, strong, got a good jump. Won't lose a header too often, will out-muscle all but the very strongest strikers, and had a good eye for goal from a set piece. Wouldn't look out of place at a bigger club and I'd love to have him at City.

Not sure he'd fit in at Villa.

Gary Neville looks ready for a knacker’s yard. It was always going to end in tears playing a midget right-back at centre-half against John Carew, a guy who has about 6/7 inches on him but he hasn't even looked Simpson class since returning from injury.

Would've been true at any time since 1996, tbf.

Haha ugh, Carragher.

Birmingham's not bad in my experience actually. East London is a really horrid one, making Lily Allen singing my least favourite noise ever to exist. Really any accent sounds like **** if it's strong enough (see every soap ever to exist for details) but Liverpool is just a class above for me.

Not that Belfast is much better, being the melty female voice capital of the world.
I could never pick out the difference between a Delfast or Dublin accent, but I could pick out Scouse and a Yorkshire one. Richard has an interesting accent, part southern/Yorks/Geordie.

Loved Simpson when he was playing for United, haven't seen him play for Blackburn. I must say I can't ever see Blackburn and United playing the same style, though. Simpson is most certainly a wingback rather than a fullback, a la Rafael. Chances are Fabio/Rafael would look a bit out of place at Blackburn, too. Just not the right player for them.

McShane - Played for Prem side last two seasons at the least. Have seen him get MOTM in local derby games etc.
Eagles - can easily play for any team in the Championship, expect him to be in the Premier League again at some point if he gets his mind right. Gets himself into trouble a bit, but gets goals at the same time.
Shawcross - easily Prem standard. Just put him into my fantasy team, too, although probably a bit too late.
Bardsley - Sunderland are better in defence than in attack, and Bardsley is part of that... would say lower Prem standard.
Simpson - I would love him to be playing for us again as I've seen him play many a game for us and he's quality, however with Rafael now in the ranks I can't see it happening.

But it's cool, I don't expect many people to take as much interest as I do in our youth side, reserves and ex-players and can pretty much completely understand why, if you didn't take that interest, you wouldn't see those players as anything notable in your head.

Moving on to more important things... thoughts on tonight's games?

Haha yeah. Haven't won away since August, we'll take points at Old Trafford...

not.
Your away form wasn't much better when you came to Old Trafford and beat us last season either though, was it?

I hope it's not the case - and I don't think it will be - but if Citeh are going to get an away win before the end of the season it's most likely to be at the Theatre. Derby bragging rights and all that.
